Newsletter: Death is Certain. Qiyam. Glorifying our Heritage and more..

Published: Fri, 05/17/13

All praises be to Allah swt, Lord of all Universe. The Most Merciful and the Most Kind. Blessings be to our Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

Among the many things in life. Death is definitely certain. Everthing that is alive will come to its end. Only Allah swt will don't die nor change. However death should not be the reason we do not our best when we are alive. It should be an inspiration for us to be the best we could be as Muslims.

So let us reflect on what we have done for the last one week, one month or one year. And ask ourselves have we done our best to live for Allah swt and follow the ways taught by Rasulullah saw? Have we been the best for our families and our community. So that when the time comes for us to meet Allah swt, we go back to Him with a grateful heart full of happiness and serenity. We can smile instead of fearing of death.

Sometimes we wonder when we read the Sirahs on Sahabahs, how they would rather sacrifice themselves rather and look forward to seeing Allah swt. How can we ever reach that level of faith?

Allah said in the Quran: “You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind” -Surah Ali-Imran, verse 110.

Muslims aspire to excel in this world and the akhirah as envisioned by Allah. History bears witness to the excellence of Muslims and their contributions in many areas. The Muslims of the past developed cultures and civilisations that is renowned the world over even by today's experts.

After attending this course, sipping your favourite cup of latte would be a totally new experience. Your visits to the mosques will be an amazing moment as you give the architecture and calligraphy in it a second or maybe a third look. Playing musical instruments would remind you of your Muslim heritage. However this course is not about reminiscing and glorifying the past. But it is a start to get Muslims attending this course to aspire for excellence and emulate the legacy of these great Islamic Civilisations such as Andalusia and Baghdad in our world today.

QIYAM anyone?

Looking for an opportunity to Qiyam with Friends. Our friends from Safinah Institute are organising a Mass Qiyam this Saturday.

Peace Retreat 8: The Search for Meaning

How often do you get someone telling you, "If you wish to and awesome Muslim, perform your Night Prayers". But you just nod your head and say ok. But in your heart you ask "How how how"?

It is difficult in this day and age to do this yourself especially when you are not used to it. And there are many questions you would like to ask like how to "Niat" and how many rakaats to pray? So how do I Tahajjud? How do I solat Tasbeeh or Taubat.

Perhaps this is the time when you stop figuring our yourself and follow an Asatizah.

The only way to succeed in a world that is moving too fast, is to slow down. The only way to divide ourselves equally to the demands of life is to first learn how to merge our divided focus and attention to the One and Only God.

These spiritual retreats are aimed at helping us:

• Pace our lives according to the calmness and endurance of Allah's Angels and not through the hastiness of the devil

• Find peace in our hearts through the assurance in the Quran for those who endure life's challenges and remain faithfully patient during times of challenge

• Express love more generously and more deeply. To embody the person who is labelled by Allah as the ‘Rahmah for the universe' – none other than Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

• Forgive and let go of the past which has held is back from being at our very best

• And to conduct our lives with more rigor and passion in pursuit of a life of excellence – most pleasing to Allah and ever-gracious to His creations.

SUITABLE FOR
Teenagers,
Adults who wish to experience night prayers. We do have a participant, aged 9 who attended with his entire family.

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT PEACE RETREAT?

“One thing for sure, I love listening to Ustaz telling us the stories from the surahs. Especially when the surahs are brought down for a reason and we should strive to understand the meanings of all the surahs. I definitely will look forward to attend the next session. :) Thank u to all the participants too for making it happen. Such a lively group we had” – Hawa Hassan (Peace Retreat 3)

"The event is uplifting, inspiring, refreshing.. Lots of soul searching & reflecting moments. A chance to meet new friends too. Alhamdulillah Thank you for making this possible" - Mr Suhirwan & Mrs Noraini

“3 things I liked best about this: learning the surahs, learning different kind of sunnah prayers and putting them into practice and staying overnight at a mosque – this is something new!” (Sha Md Amsah – Peace Retreat 6)
