Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.
In today's newsletter, we will be continuing last week's 2 part series with Part 2: Ways to Beautify Your Character.
Beautifying the Actions
1. Be conscious of every deed, and increase in small acts of kindness
“ [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving” [ Qur’an 67:2]
The purpose of the entire creation is mentioned in this one verse – it is to test us which of us is ‘best in deeds.’
When we tend to focus on our own mistakes rather than others, we become conscious of all our deeds. Once we purify a vessel – here the vessel is our heart – we add good and beautiful things into it. So add to your scales by beautifying every simple act in the best of ways and with excellence. Simple examples would be, easing the work for your workers with a smile, helping parents in little things without them asking you, or verbally forgiving someone when they have
wronged you.
Ihsan (excellence) in deeds will purify the heart, make it feel lighter, and again, help us remain focused on our tasks. This is the ultimate aid in productivity, as you have a clear mind, renewed intentions and happier heart to complete your day-to-day work.
2. Let the Qur'an expand your day and increase it in blessings
Believe in the words of Allah SWT when He says: “Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” [Qur’an 13:28]
How often have you wished for more time during the day? The Qur’an miraculously expands your time. The Qur’an is the greatest form of dhikr (remembrance). Allah SWT says: "“And this [Qur’an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed (Mubarak), so follow it and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” [Qur'an 6:155]
Allah describes the Qur’an as Mubarak, the one that has barakah. The more we include the Qur’an in our lives, the more barakah there is during the day! All it needs is your attention, conscious continuous attention every single day be it even for 10 minutes.
If half an hour on Facebook passes as a breeze, then what about ten minutes to give to reciting the Qur’an for rewards, blessings, expansion of heart and time and inner peace?
Simply ponder over the verses, or read a commentary, or recite, or listen but give ten minutes minimum to the Qur’an and watch it unfold its secrets to you. Giving time to the Qur’an keeps you connected to Allah SWT, making it more likely that you will consciously avoid sinning. It also aids in clearing our minds of unnecessary things, hence achieving clarity and peace. The Qur’an is light, and when this light enters the heart, it will be focused and steered in the
right direction, leading it to achieve its purpose in life.
3. Consciously make dhikr a daily habit and reap the fruits of remembrance
An additional way to beautify our minds is to constantly remember Allah with other forms of remembrance. We learn from the seerah of the Prophet Muhammad that there was not a moment he would not remember Allah SWT. There are duas/athkaar for every moment, from sighting the new moon to feeling a breeze of wind. When we train our minds to keep on reflecting on the signs of Allah SWT, on His love and wisdom in every situation, our minds
become accustomed to good thoughts, leading to a lighter, more beautiful heart.
It is worth mentioning that Abud-Darda (RA) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Shall I not inform you of the best of your actions which are the purest to your Rabb, which exalt you to the high ranks, which are more efficacious than spending gold and silver (in charity), and better for you than you should encounter your enemies whom you will smite their necks and they will smite your necks?” They said, “Certainly.” He (PBUH) said, “Remembrance of Allah the
Exalted.” [At-Tirmidhi]
The Heart Needs To Be Light and Beautiful
In short, to achieve a high level of productivity, our hearts need to be light and beautiful, to do that, the following are indispensable must-dos for this goal:
- Consciously work on beautifying your heart: focus on your inner thoughts; train yourself to think good of people, focus on your own mistakes so you don’t have time for theirs and increase in the remembrance of Allah SWT.
- Focus on beautifying your actions: work on how you can do each and every little deed with excellence and purify your intentions for Allah’s sake.
- Capitalise on reciting the Qur’an: no matter how busy you are, give it at least ten minutes consistently every single day. It will not only add barakah to your time but also increase your focus, productivity and overall satisfaction and peace.
..........
We hope that what we've shared this week is beneficial and inspires you to become a better Muslim. May Allah guide us all, make our hearts dedicated solely to Him, and make us steadfast on our Deen. Ameen.

Still I Rise
A woman is a powerhouse of strength and a reservoir of dignity. She was not created lightly, neither was she given life in vain. Her aura is akin to that strong ancient tree that everyone clings to for life and love. A tree with roots deep within the earth, yet branches far above the sky. Branches that support, nourish, and shelter everyone that they come in contact with - those who nest in permanently, and also those who fly away after brief rest. But the
real strength of those branches lies in her deep and nurtured, yet unseen, roots - the faith in her heart, and the submission of her soul to her Only Creator and Sustainer. If she recognises this fact, she connects to the Source of All Strength and will never wither away, come storm or hail. And if she fails to see it, alas she lets go of her ethereal Divinely-gifted potential and sways to every gust of wind that seeks to imbalance her.
In this talk, we will look at the life of those awe-inspiring women of the past who chose to leave behind every cliché and label, who let go of selfish base desires that weaken them, who fought every thief seeking to loot their real identity - servant of the Most Loving, Most Gentle God. We will study about those women who chose to connect their roots to the Ever Living, the Source of love, the Source of patience; and in that process became the towering perennial trees whose shade
we rest in even today.
Come, be inspired. Come, be enlightened.
Come... find your roots.

Islamic Funeral And Death Rites Course
Death is a very painful and emotional time, yet one that may be filled with hope and mercy. Muslims believe that death is a departure from the life of this world, but not the end of a person's existence. Rather, eternal life is to come, and we pray for Allah's mercy to be with the departed, in hopes that they may find peace and happiness in the next to come.
That is for the person who will face death. But how about the family or relatives? Its very easy to say stay calm and be strong but without the proper knowledge and guidance many a times that will not be the case. In some incidences, members of family breaks down and make irrational decisions which may cause more problems.
If this situation arises in your family, would you know what to do?

INFAQ: Infaq Mutton ( All year round )
Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations by providing halal mutton for their events / majlis.
Throughout the year we have had requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton and often we have to reject them because we could raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we could bring in the mutton from Australia.
To make this effort more sustainable and for us to be able to respond to requests, we have decided to run this project all year around.
This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.
If you are an event organiser for a non-profit organisation and would like to request for the meat, do write in to us at info@islamicevents.sg and we will do our best to help.
So far the total amount of mutton we have collected is 324kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- most recently 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
We are now left with 122kg of mutton, of which 100kg will be donated to Masjid Maarof for their event this December.
Current Mutton Request:
- Masjid Darul Makmur has requested for 80kg of mutton for their upcoming monthly Hot Meal Distribution event, which will be held every third Sunday of the month. Based on the 22kg of mutton we have left, we only require 58kg of mutton to fulfil this particular request.

From their inception till date, they are close to providing 200,000 meals to the Community.
