Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.
Alhamdulillah, we are now in the month of Rabi’ul Awwal. For the whole month of Rabi’ul Awwal, we will be sharing with you Reflections on The Prophet's Life, which are excerpts from the book “In the Footsteps of the Prophet” by Tariq Ramadan. In this book, we find examples of the Prophet’s life that reinforce the critical values that form the foundation of our Singaporean Muslim Identity (SMI). These values call upon us to be religiously
resilient, inclusive, contributive, adaptive and progressive. These are values which will guide us to become the Prophet’s ummah that serves as a model community.
Reflections on The Prophet’s Life
"Verily, there has come to You a Messenger (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) from amongst yourselves, it grieves Him that You should receive any injury or difficulty. He is anxious over You (for your well-being), for the believers (He is) the most kind and compassionate." [Qur'an 9:128]
The life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a source of shining guidance and full of powerful lessons for Muslims in different places and times. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) exemplifies the strong and profound relationship that each human being ought to have with his Creator, his fellow human beings, and the world around him.
As we commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the 12th of Rabi’ul Awwal, let us reflect on his shining life and honourable personality, and follow in his footsteps to become religiously profound and socially progressive Muslims who are blessings to all.
To Be Religiously Resilient...
Throughout the twenty-three years of his mission, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sought the way to spiritual freedom and liberation. He was beloved by God and an example among humans. He prayed, he contemplated. He love, he gave. He served, he transformed. The Prophet (PBUH) was the light that leads to Light, and in learning from his life, believers return to the Source of Life and find His light, His warmth, and His love.
The Messenger (PBUH) may have left the human world, but he has taught us never to forget Him, the Supreme Refuge, the Witness, the Most Near. Bearing witness that there is no god but God is, in effect, stepping toward deep and authentic freedom; recognising the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the Messenger is essentially learning to love him in his absence and to love Him in His presence. Loving, and learning to love: God, the Prophet, the creation, and humankind.
The Prophet (PBUH) hated to let his Companions nurture a pointless feeling of guilt. He kept telling them that they must never stop conversing with the One, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful, who welcomes everyone in His grace and benevolence and who loves the sincerity of hearts that regret their misdeeds and return to Him. This is the profound meaning of at-tawbah, offered to everyone: sincerely returning to God after a slip, a mistake, a sin. God loves that sincere return to Him
and He forgives and purifies. The Prophet himself exemplified that in many circumstances.
His Companions and his wives saw him pray for hours during the night, away from others, alone with the whispered prayers and invocations that nurtured his dialogue with the One. A'isha (RA) was impressed and surprised: “Don’t you take on too much [worship] while God has already forgiven all your past and future sins?” The Prophet answered: “How could I but be a thankful servant?” He did not demand of his Companions the worship, fasting, and meditations
that he exacted of himself.
...Through A Loving Relationship with Others
In order to tighten the bonds between Muslims, and in particular between those Muslims who were from Medina (the Ansar) and those who had emigrated from Mecca (the Muhajirun), the Prophet decided to set up a formal pact of brotherhood (al-muakhah) between the Muslims. This meant that each Muhajir was bound by a pact to an Ansar, who was to help him settle down, share his belongings with him, and enable him to live in Medina in the best possible circumstances.
This pact was to provide the new Muslim community settled in Medina with particular strength and unity. Extremely deep relationships were created between believers who were later to attest to the intensity of their mutual love in God. Those bonds constituted the Muslim community’s spiritual and social strength, and in this lay the secret of their success before God and among men: faith in God, love for parents, fraternity among people, and ethics at the service of the universe and of
all beings.
..........
Stay tuned for Part 2 in next week's newsletter, where we will be talking about the importance of inclusivity and how the Prophet (PBUH) was accepting of all people from different walks of life. We hope that what we've shared this week is beneficial and inspires you to become a better Muslim. May Allah guide us all, make our hearts dedicated solely to Him, and make us steadfast on our Deen. Ameen.

Still I Rise
A woman is a powerhouse of strength and a reservoir of dignity. She was not created lightly, neither was she given life in vain. Her aura is akin to that strong ancient tree that everyone clings to for life and love. A tree with roots deep within the earth, yet branches far above the sky. Branches that support, nourish, and shelter everyone that they come in contact with - those who nest in permanently, and also those who fly away after brief rest. But the
real strength of those branches lies in her deep and nurtured, yet unseen, roots - the faith in her heart, and the submission of her soul to her Only Creator and Sustainer. If she recognises this fact, she connects to the Source of All Strength and will never wither away, come storm or hail. And if she fails to see it, alas she lets go of her ethereal Divinely-gifted potential and sways to every gust of wind that seeks to imbalance her.
In this talk, we will look at the life of those awe-inspiring women of the past who chose to leave behind every cliché and label, who let go of selfish base desires that weaken them, who fought every thief seeking to loot their real identity - servant of the Most Loving, Most Gentle God. We will study about those women who chose to connect their roots to the Ever Living, the Source of love, the Source of patience; and in that process became the towering perennial trees whose shade
we rest in even today.
Come, be inspired. Come, be enlightened.
Come... find your roots.

Islamic Funeral And Death Rites Course
Death is a very painful and emotional time, yet one that may be filled with hope and mercy. Muslims believe that death is a departure from the life of this world, but not the end of a person's existence. Rather, eternal life is to come, and we pray for Allah's mercy to be with the departed, in hopes that they may find peace and happiness in the next to come.
That is for the person who will face death. But how about the family or relatives? Its very easy to say stay calm and be strong but without the proper knowledge and guidance many a times that will not be the case. In some incidences, members of family breaks down and make irrational decisions which may cause more problems.
If this situation arises in your family, would you know what to do?

INFAQ: Infaq Mutton ( All year round )
Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations by providing halal mutton for their events / majlis.
Throughout the year we have had requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton and often we have to reject them because we could raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we could bring in the mutton from Australia.
To make this effort more sustainable and for us to be able to respond to requests, we have decided to run this project all year around.
This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.
If you are an event organiser for a non-profit organisation and would like to request for the meat, do write in to us at info@islamicevents.sg and we will do our best to help.
So far the total amount of mutton we have collected is 385kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- most recently 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
We are now left with 175kg of mutton, of which 100kg will be donated to Masjid Maarof for their event this December.
Current Mutton Request:
- Masjid Darul Makmur has requested for 80kg of mutton for their upcoming monthly Hot Meal Distribution event, which will be held every third Sunday of the month. Based on the 75kg of mutton we have left, we only require 5kg of mutton to fulfil this particular request.

From their inception till date, they are close to providing 200,000 meals to the Community.

Quran Reading @ Home
Are you looking for a Quran Teacher to educate you and your family on reading and reciting the Quran at Home? In collaboration with Islamicevents.sg and Meqar, we hope we can help you match a suitable Quran Teacher for you and your family.
--------------------
Who is Meqar?
--------------------
MEQAR is a department under Mujahidin Mosque which focuses on Quran Education and training of Quran Teachers on the Qiraati methodology. They have trained more than 500 Quran teachers using the Qiraati methodology. In this collaboration, Meqar will advise Islamicevents.sg on suitable Quran Teachers that are ready to be matched.
------------------------------------------------------------
How do we match you with the Quran Teacher?
------------------------------------------------------------
- Location: We recognise that location plays an important role. We would not want to match a family and a teacher who lives on the other end of Singapore. We will match best by locating the Quran Teacher that is closest to you.
- Experience: Teaching children and teaching adults can be very different. Some of our Quran Teachers are well trained in handling children than adults and they prefer to teach children. Vice versa, you would want a Quran Teacher to be able to handle kids or children.
- Knowledge: You may prefer to have a more knowledgable Quran Teacher as you may only want to improve on Tajweed or embarking on Sanads. Some Quran Teachers can teach until a certain level. If you advance further, you may need to have another teacher to teach advance reading methodology.
