Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.
According to the Holy Qur'an, taking interest is a sin that incurs severe Divine punishment. The punishment for usury as mentioned in the Qur’an is far more severe than the punishment for other sins. It is announced in Surah Ali 'Imran:
"O you who believe! Do not devour usury, making it double and redouble and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful. And guard yourself against the fire that has been prepared for the unbelievers." [Surah Ali 'Imran 3:130-131]
It means that the fury of the fire that is prepared for those who take interest will be just as intense as the fire prepared for the unbelievers. Undoubtedly, usury is an unjust and oppressive evil. It is against human nature and human dignity. It increases the riches of the wealthy and drives the impoverished to further depravation.
In Islam, one's earnings should be only in return of efforts and work, because capital itself cannot do any work and make any effort. Hence the wealth of the rich man should not be increased by taking usury. Increasing wealth by usury is the easiest form of making money but Islam forbids it. Wealth cannot be accumulated by forcing the helpless poor into further destitution; and usury does just that, causing economic imbalance and trampling upon human rights, equity and justice.
How will you give today?

NEW INFAQ PROJECT
Alhamdulillah, with the success of our Ramadan Mutton Project 2016 and 2017, this year we are looking to provide red meat to the organisations that benefitted from our Ramadan Mutton projects for the past two years. We also wish to provide meat from this project to a few more beneficiaries.
This project will help to greatly reduce the costs for organisations that provide bubur iftar for Ramadan 2018.
All are welcome to contribute! :)
******
Fresh/Chill Mutton (Less than 1 week of slaughtering)
• 1kg - $25
• 2kg - $48
• 5kg - $120
• 10kg - $230
• (1 sheep) - 18kg $330
- Closing Date for Fresh Mutton: 1st June 2018 -
Frozen Mutton (More than 1 month stored in Freezer)
• 1kg - $20
• 2kg - $38
• 5kg - $90
• 10kg - $178
• (1 sheep) - 18kg $313
Frozen Beef (More than 1 month stored in Freezer)
• 1kg $18
• 2kg $35
• 5kg $85
• 10kg $165
- Closing Date for Frozen Meat: 8th June 2018 -
All costs for administration & logistics - air flown, cutting and delivery to organisations are already included.
In 2017, we managed to raise more than 4000kg of mutton. However, due to last minute requests, the quantity raised was insufficient, hence some of the organisations had to change to another type of meat for their iftar especially for the last week of Ramadan. This year by starting this project early, we hope to raise more so we can cater to the needs of the organisations.
For sponsors, you will receive reports of the meat distribution throughout and after Ramadan 2018. Postings will also be broadcasted in IslamicEvents newsletters and blog >> www.islamicevents.sg/blog.

Imagine fleeing away from home and seeking refuge in another country where support is little and life is full of insecurities. Most of us wouldn't understand the plight of the Rohingyas but whenever we read about them in the news we know we can do a part to help their situation.
One of our partners Hezom International recently went down to Cox Bazaar @ Bangladesh where the Rohingya refugees are staying to distribute rations and supplies to them. While they were there, they surveyed and identified other needs besides food and shelter. They found out that the refugees need lighting, especially in the evening.
Nur Project For Rohingya
Our aim to is to provide electricity to them via solar panels. The package can light up a full tent area which caters for a family of 6-10 people.
Click here to watch the video.
Some Facts:
- At the Rohingya refugee camps, there is no grid electricity connection.
- Refugees use solar panels, candles and kerosene lamps for light at night.
Solar Panel Package
Each solar panel contains a number of photovoltaic solar cells, which are capable of converting direct sunlight into electrical power. During daylight hours, the panels on the roof collect the energy from the sun and feed it to an inverter. This even happens on cloudy days!
Each solar panel package consists of:
i) Solar panel
ii) Wirings
iii) Lightings
iv) Battery
v) Installation Service
1) How can I support this project?
- You may support this project to infaq one set of solar panel for each family.
2) How much is each solar panel package?
- Full Solar Panel Package - $315
- Shared Solar Panel Package (shared with 5 other pax) - $70
Each solar panel package will cost around $315. You may infaq more than 1 solar panel package. The prices are inclusive of administrative costs, logistics, etc.
3) How many names can we insert onto the name board?
- We allow up to 5 names. You can share 1 solar package with 5 friends/relatives/siblings/family/etc. You may also request to put "Hamba Allah"
- We have an option of only purchasing 1 part of the solar package - which will be shared with 5 people. There'll be an additional cost due to the extra administration and printing & delivery of certificates.
4) How will I know when this project has been completed?
- We estimate this will take 2 months from the time you register your infaq. If there is a large infaq volume, the process may be delayed and may take longer.
How Do I Infaq for this Project?
Payment can be made in the following ways:
i) By Cheque
ii) By Bank Transfer
iii) By Debit/Credit Card/Paypal
iv) We can also collect the amount from your home or walk-in to our office (For Amounts $200 and above, contact us at infaq@islamicevents.sg after registration.)

Mission: To aid and provide poor families in Cambodia with proper housing.
While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected from the weather, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to purchase land and build up their own houses. There are thousands of families living in poverty in Cambodia, and some of the houses are simply made of straw (as shown above). In this Wakf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing.
This project, managed by Infaq.SG, will help to purchase a small piece of land and build up the houses for these poor families. One of our staff members, who travels every 2-3 months to Cambodia to send support, will be overseeing this project.
Current Request: 10 houses
Location: 1 House @ Wilayah Koh Kong & 9 Houses @ Wilayah Sihanoukville
Completion period: 2 months + 1 month of Administration.
Wakf Whole House - SGD $3,600
