Assalammualaikum wr wb,
In recent events of speakers not allowed to enter to Singapore to speak, it has been very challenging for event organisers like us to bring in overseas speakers to speak on the Singapore stage. Despite permits being submitted in advance it still took a long time for authorities to approve due to increase level of checks.
It affected us very badly this year and it did not just happen to us but also to many other event organisers too.
One of our event ~ Love & Pray which was supposed to be in April 2017 had to be postponed to this coming 23rd Dec 2017 due to this problem and we had to re-apply all the permits all over again as we had to change speakers and made significant changes in the plan.
Why 23rd of December 2017. A long weekend?
This was the only date that the venue providers could give us and by right we couldn't postponed it according to our contract agreement but we had to negotiate for it. It wasn't the best date but we had to accept it instead of losing our deposit which amounts to $14,000. Total venue cost amounts to $22,000. Big venues does cost a lot in Singapore.
Why are we sharing this with you?
The possible future of seeing overseas Islamic speakers coming to Singapore will be more challenging than before. It is not impossible to bring them in but it will be harder. If there are any other event organisers that are able to bring in overseas speakers, we hope you will give them their support.
If we are feeling the pain, other event organisers will feel this too and we hope despite the challenges that lay ahead of us, we should keep believing that things will get better. Insyallah. May Allah swt make it easy for all of us. Ameen.

"Love for God: The Greatest Love Story ".

Our second speaker will fly all the way from the United Kingdom.
A Muslim revert. Bro Harry has travelled to Syria and many war-torn countries as a journalist covering unbiased news reports with regards to the crisis happening in these countries. He has also spoken on many stages including Ted X. Not just once but 3 times.
Recently he has been mentioned as among the top 10 Influential Muslims Millennials to look out for. Check it out.
His topic will be about "Love for Humanity. The act of trying to find the way home is what convinces us we are lost."
See the world through his lenses where the love for humans affects and changes the lives of the people in those areas. Perhaps this was also the reason he reverted to Islam.
