Reflections on The Prophet’s Life
For the whole month of Rabi’ul Awwal, we have shared with you Reflections on The Prophet's Life, which are excerpts from the book “In the Footsteps of the Prophet” by Tariq Ramadan. In this book, we find examples of the Prophet’s life that reinforce the critical values that form the foundation of our Singaporean Muslim Identity (SMI). These values call upon us to be religiously resilient, inclusive,
contributive, adaptive and progressive. These are values which will guide us to become the Prophet’s ummah that serves as a model community.
To Be Progressive
Throughout his mission the Prophet (PBUH) sought his Companions’ advice, encouraging them to express their opinions and paying them careful attention. Furthermore, the Prophet had evolved a genuine method and practice of teaching, through which he allowed the Muslims to develop their critical faculties, express their talents, and mature in their presence. He would often ask questions on various subjects and give the answers only after his Companions had thought by themselves and
expressed different conjectures.
Sometimes, more subtly, he would utter a judgment in a paradoxical form, thereby prompting his listeners to consider the matter more deeply. For example, he once said: “A strong man is not a man who overcomes his enemy!” The Companions mulled this over among themselves, then asked him: “Then who is a strong man?” The Prophet surprised his audience and led them to a deeper understanding of the question with his answer: “A strong man is a man who controls
himself when he is angry!”
Both by asking questions and by formulating paradoxical or seemingly contradictory statements, the Prophet (PBUH) stimulated his Companions’ critical sense and their ability to go beyond mere blind obedience or mechanical, mind-destroying imitation. This method developed the intellectual capacities necessary for consultations to be effective. By stimulating their intelligence and giving them opportunities to speak, he exercised a type of leadership that made it possible for his
Companions to learn to assert themselves and take initiative. The Prophet (PBUH), gave his Companions, women and men alike, the means and confidence to be autonomous, to dare to address and contradict him without his ever considering it as lack of respect for his status. Through this attitude, he showed them his deep respect for their intelligence and for their heart: as for them, they loved their Prophet, their leader, for this attention, this availability, and this demand to use their
abilities to the fullest.
The Prophet (PBUH) listened to women in his society, who often experienced denial of their rights, exclusion, and ill-treatment. Revelation recalls this listening and this accessibility: “God has indeed heard the statement of the woman who pleads with you concerning her husband and carries her complaint to God. And God hears the argument between both of you. For God hears and sees [all things].” [ Qur'an 58:1]
Similarly, he listened to a woman who wanted to divorce her husband because she did not like him anymore; he heard her, looked into the matter, and separated them. He also received another woman who complained that her father had married her off without asking for her opinion; he was ready to separate her and husband, but she informed him that she was actually satisfied with her father’s choice but wanted to make it known to fathers that “this was not their decision” and
that they could not act in such a way without seeking their daughter’s consent.
The Messenger (PBUH) conveyed to women the twofold requirement of spiritual training and of asserting a femininity that is not imprisoned in the mirror of men's gaze or alienated within unhealthy relationships of power. Their presence in society, in public spaces and in social, political, economic, and even military action, was an objective fact that the Prophet not only never denied or rejected, but clearly encouraged. In the light of spiritual teachings, he guided them to assert
themselves, be present, express themselves, and claim the real freedom of heart and conscience. They had to choose it for themselves, trusting in the Most Gracious.
..........
Alhamdulillah, this concludes our 5-part series for the month of Rabi'ul Awwal. We hope that what we've shared with you so far is beneficial and inspires you to become a better Muslim. May Allah guide us all, make our hearts dedicated solely to Him, and make us steadfast on our Deen. Ameen.

Kursus Jenazah ( Jan 2018 )
Praktikal:
1. Cara memandikan jenazah
2. Cara yang betul untuk mengkafankan si mati
3. Doa untuk dibaca

INFAQ: Infaq Mutton ( All year round )
Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations by providing halal mutton for their events / majlis.
Throughout the year we have had requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton and often we have to reject them because we could raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we could bring in the mutton from Australia.
To make this effort more sustainable and for us to be able to respond to requests, we have decided to run this project all year around.
This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.
So far the total amount of mutton we have collected is 385kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
- 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- most recently 100kg was donated to Masjid Maarof
Current Mutton Request:
- No request. We are now left with 129kg of mutton. If you are an event organiser for a non-profit organisation and would like to request for the meat, do write in to us at info@islamicevents.sg and we will do our best to help :)

Quran Reading @ Home
Are you looking for a Quran Teacher to educate you and your family on reading and reciting the Quran at Home? In collaboration with Islamicevents.sg and Meqar, we hope we can help you match a suitable Quran Teacher for you and your family.
--------------------
Who is Meqar?
--------------------
MEQAR is a department under Mujahidin Mosque which focuses on Quran Education and training of Quran Teachers on the Qiraati methodology. They have trained more than 500 Quran teachers using the Qiraati methodology. In this collaboration, Meqar will advise Islamicevents.sg on suitable Quran Teachers that are ready to be matched.
------------------------------------------------------------
How do we match you with the Quran Teacher?
------------------------------------------------------------
- Location: We recognise that location plays an important role. We would not want to match a family and a teacher who lives on the other end of Singapore. We will match best by locating the Quran Teacher that is closest to you.
- Experience: Teaching children and teaching adults can be very different. Some of our Quran Teachers are well trained in handling children than adults and they prefer to teach children. Vice versa, you would want a Quran Teacher to be able to handle kids or children.
- Knowledge: You may prefer to have a more knowledgable Quran Teacher as you may only want to improve on Tajweed or embarking on Sanads. Some Quran Teachers can teach until a certain level. If you advance further, you may need to have another teacher to teach advance reading methodology.
