[Newsletter] Every Sickness Has A Cure

Published: Mon, 01/15/18

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.

Every Sickness Has A Cure
Amazingly, although the Prophet (PBUH) lived in one of the poorest and most ignorant nations 14 centuries ago, he was guided by Allah to teach Muslims and the whole world ever since that “There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment.” [Bukhari]

At that time, when treatment with magic and the like was widespread all over the world, such a statement by the Prophet was a wide leap forward in human knowledge; a leap that could only emanate from the ever-Knowing Allah SWT. The Prophet’s guidance further inspired Muslims to search and discover effective medicines, when he said, in a more complete narration of the hadith: "Allah has never created a disease but created its treatment, that is known by some people and unknown to others, except death." [At-Tabarani]

The reason that Muslims advanced so much in medicine is because the Prophet (PBUH) had told them that for every disease there is a cure, and that they should seek treatment. He pointed to many cures himself. He encouraged the women of his household to learn medicine from those who knew it. Women, in the time of the Prophet (PBUH), excelled in medicine. The Prophet had pitched a tent in the yard of his mosque in Medina and appointed a lady named Rufaidah (RA) to run it as a field hospital, to nurse the wounded and care for homeless newcomers to Medina. [Tarikh at-Tabari

Muslims are requested to seek medication from experts, as in the following hadith: “Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawful.” [Abu Dawud] Again, this was an outstanding progressive piece of advice 14 centuries ago that could only come from the divine guidance of Allah SWT.

Once Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visited a sick person. He said, “Call a physician for him.” One of the attendants said, “Even you say this, Prophet of Allah?” Prophet Muhammad replied, “Yes.” [Bukhari]

Also, as a precaution to lessen the probability of infection, the Prophet (PBUH) warned Muslims against associating with the sick: “A sick person should not be taken to one who is healthy.” [Bukhari]

Islam teaches us many things in the field of healing people. In addition, the Prophet (PBUH) urged us to recite some supplications in case one falls victim to illness. He used to say every morning and night, “I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah (the Quran) from the evil of what He has created.” [Muslim]

These Ahadith indicate there are causes for whatever occurs in this world and also removal of these causes. The Prophet's statement that there is a cure for every disease might include both the curable and the humanly incurable diseases, for Allah SWT may have hidden these types of cures from mankind and blocked their path to acquiring them.

The Prophet (PBUH) said that the disease ends when the proper cure is applied to it, indicating that there is an opposite for every creation and thus there is an antidote for every disease. He has also stated that when the proper remedy and the disease meet, recovery from the illness occurs. When the sick person and the disease are not treated with the suitable medicine, cure and recovery does not occur. Also, when the time is not suitable for the cure, or when the body is unable or unsuitable for the prescribed medicine, the cure will not be effective. When all circumstances are favourable, then the cure will surely be effective.

Conclusion
Muslims are commanded to seek and take the appropriate medicine, while indicating that this action does not contradict dependence on Allah SWT alone for everything. Just like when a person satisfies his hunger and thirst, or reacts to being hot or cold, does not contradict the dependence on Allah SWT. A person should bear in mind first that it is Allah SWT who has the power of healing all people; no one has this power except Him.

Iman (faith) and Tawakkul (trust) have to be the uttermost important part of a Muslim’s belief. Since this material world has been classed as Darul Asbaab (a world of means), it is necessary to take medication for one’s illness. To have trust in Allah is to search for a cure, which would be classed as the highest grade of Tawakkul.

NEW INFAQ PROJECT:
Wakaf Housing Project in Cambodia

INFAQ: Wakf Housing Project in Cambodia

Mission: To aid and provide poor families in Cambodia with proper housing.

While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected from the weather, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to purchase land and build up their own houses. There are thousands of families living in poverty in Cambodia, and some of the houses are simply made of straw (as shown above). In this Wakf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing.

This project, managed by Infaq.SG, will help to purchase a small piece of land and build up the houses for these poor families. One of our staff members, who travels every 2-3 months to Cambodia to send support, will be overseeing this project.

Current Request: 10 houses
Location: 1 House @ Wilayah Koh Kong & 9 Houses @ Wilayah Sihanoukville
Completion period: 2 months + 1 month of Administration.

Wakaf Whole House - SGD $3,600
Wakaf Part of House ( Shared with 6 pax ) - SGD $630 each.

INFAQ: Infaq Mutton (All Year Round)

Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations by providing halal mutton for their events / majlis.

Throughout the year we have had requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton and often we have to reject them because we could raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we could bring in the mutton from Australia.

To make this effort more sustainable and for us to be able to respond to requests, we have decided to run this project all year around.

This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.

So far the total amount of mutton we have collected is 715kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
- 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Maarof
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- most recently 136kg was donated to Masjid Mujahidin
- an upcoming 80kg will be donated to Masjid Darul Makmur on 20 January

Current Mutton Request:

  • No request. We are now left with 9kg of mutton. If you are an event organiser for a non-profit organisation and would like to request for the meat, do write in to us at info@islamicevents.sg and we will do our best to help :)

Quran Reading @ Home

Are you looking for a Quran Teacher to educate you and your family on reading and reciting the Quran at Home? In collaboration with Islamicevents.sg and Meqar, we hope we can help you match a suitable Quran Teacher for you and your family.

--------------------
Who is Meqar?
--------------------

MEQAR is a department under Mujahidin Mosque which focuses on Quran Education and training of Quran Teachers on the Qiraati methodology. They have trained more than 500 Quran teachers using the Qiraati methodology. In this collaboration, Meqar will advise Islamicevents.sg on suitable Quran Teachers that are ready to be matched.

------------------------------------------------------------
How do we match you with the Quran Teacher?
------------------------------------------------------------

- Location: We recognise that location plays an important role. We would not want to match a family and a teacher who lives on the other end of Singapore. We will match best by locating the Quran Teacher that is closest to you.

- Experience: Teaching children and teaching adults can be very different. Some of our Quran Teachers are well trained in handling children than adults and they prefer to teach children. Vice versa, you would want a Quran Teacher to be able to handle kids or children.

- Knowledge: You may prefer to have a more knowledgable Quran Teacher as you may only want to improve on Tajweed or embarking on Sanads. Some Quran Teachers can teach until a certain level. If you advance further, you may need to have another teacher to teach advance reading methodology.

One to One Al Quran Reading

The One to One Al Quran Reading is suitable for busy individuals that have to travel frequently for work or Business or work shifts.
