Three Lasting Good Deeds

INFAQ.SG

“His deeds come to an end” means that a person is not able to perform any deeds anymore and therefore no longer receives reward for their actions. But there are three categories of actions for which a person can receive reward even after death.

First, ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah): This is any good deed done from which other people continue to benefit from despite the demise of the person who originated it. For example, the establishment of a madrasah or masjid from which people are rightly guided will be sadaqah jariyah for the person who established it. Having a well dug or a shade or fruit tree planted will also accrue good deeds for a person, as long as the well or tree benefits people.

Second, “knowledge which is beneficial” means knowledge imparted verbally or by any other means through which people become better Muslims. As long as people benefit from this knowledge, the teacher will receive reward for it.

A third source of reward is having righteous descendants. Bringing up children on the right path and then making du'a for them to be among the righteous is essential, so that after a person's death their children will  continue to pray for the deceased. The prayer of righteous children in favour of their parents is very useful. Needless to say all such deeds have to be done with sincerity (ikhlas) in seeking the pleasure of Allah SWT. Only when they are done to earn Allah’s pleasure will they be rewarded by Him. If they are done for fame, monetary gain, or any other worldly benefit, then the outcome one achieves in this world is all that they will get for it.

NEW INFAQ PROJECT:

INFAQ: Wakf Housing Project in Cambodia

Mission: To aid and provide poor families in Cambodia with proper housing.

While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected from the weather, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to purchase land and build up their own houses. There are thousands of families living in poverty in Cambodia, and some of the houses are simply made of straw (as shown above). In this Wakf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing.

INFAQ.SG

This project, managed by Infaq.SG, will help to purchase a small piece of land and build up the houses for these poor families. One of our staff members, who travels every 2-3 months to Cambodia to send support, will be overseeing this project.

Current Request: 10 houses

INFAQ: Mutton ( All Year Round )

INFAQ: Mutton All Year Round

Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations to provide halal mutton for their events / majlis.

Throughout the year we've had multiple requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton, and often we have to reject them because we could only raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we can bring in the mutton from Australia.

To make this effort more sustainable, and for us to be able to respond to these requests, we decided to run this project all year round.

This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.

Alhamdulillah, with your generous contributions so far we have collected is 718kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
- 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Maarof
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 136kg was donated to Masjid Mujahidin
- most recently 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur

Current Mutton Request:

  • No request. We are now left with 12kg of mutton. If you are an event organiser for a non-profit organisation and would like to request for the meat, do write in to us at info@islamicevents.sg, and we will do our best to help :)
