3 Powerful Tips to Overcome Fear
As humans we all experience fear, even some of the most successful and confident people experience fear. Fear can be a good thing because it prevents us from taking steps that can harm us, but quite often our fears are based on exaggerated assumptions. These fearful thoughts come in the ways of working towards our goals & dreams.
Some of the common fears we experience:
- Fear of failure
- Fear of being rejected
- Fear of not meeting our own expectations
When we realize that we’re being excessively fearful, how do we over come them? Here are 3 ways:
1) Have Proper Perspective
The reason for the fear is often because our perspective of the situation is skewed. Our fears are based on wrong assumptions. By correcting these assumptions we get a proper perspective on our situation.
Put your fearful thoughts into perspective by asking the following questions:
- What is the worst that can happen if my fear came true?
- What is more likely to happen if that fear were to be actually realised?
- What is the best outcome possible for me, if I acted in spite of my fear?
Once you’ve answered them, discuss these questions with a close friend. Getting another point of view on the situation will help in getting a proper perspective. You’ll realise that:
- The worst possible outcome isn’t so bad, and is something you can handle.
- The best possible outcome is very rewarding.
2) Replace Fear with Curiosity
When you’re fearful you create a barrier of separateness between yourself and the world/other people. This perception of other becomes a threat, and you have thoughts like:
- “What will they think of me?”
- “What if it doesn’t work out?”
- “What if I fail?”
These thoughts close a person off from taking action. But when you’re curious it opens you up, and brings in enthusiasm. Thoughts of fear are replaced with thoughts of curiosity. So to be more curious, replace the negative thoughts of fear like “I’m afraid they’ll not like my idea” with “I’m curious to know what others think.” Become a person who’s interested and
open to new ideas and experiences.
3) Trust in Allah
Allah says in the Quran: “Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” [Quran 2:277]
If you have trust in Allah SWT, then you can overcome anything. Allah also reassures us in the Quran that: “If Allah helps you, none can overcome you: If He forsakes you, who is there, after that, that can help you? In Allah, then, let believers put their trust.” [Quran 3:160]
If you believe from the depths of your heart that the Creator of the universe wishes the best for you, then no matter what happens, you won’t be worried. As long as you know you’re taking the right action then no matter what the outcome is, you’ll surrender to it with peace. There’s nothing to be afraid of, because there is nothing better than being content with the knowledge that the Creator of the universe is doing what is best for you.
Once you’ve taken action in spite of the fear, take time out to celebrate! This will reinforce in your mind that having the courage to face your fears is a rewarding experience.
Be fearless – Be Muslim.

Islamic Funeral And Death Rites Course
Death is a very painful and emotional time, yet one that may be filled with hope and mercy. Muslims believe that death is a departure from the life of this world, but not the end of a person's existence. Rather, eternal life is to come, and we pray for Allah's mercy to be with the departed, in hopes that they may find peace and happiness in the next to come.
That is for the person who will face death. But how about the family or relatives? It's very easy to say stay calm and be strong but without the proper knowledge and guidance many times that will not be the case. In some instances, family members break down and make irrational decisions which may cause more problems.
If this situation arises in your family, would you know what to do?
This course will cover the basics to the different cases/situations that will arise in such situations.
This is a 2-day course, which consists of theory and practical.
Topics to cover :
Theory:
1. Steps to take when death in the family happens.
2. Calling the police or doctor first?
3. Death by accident. How to react?
4. Death overseas. What is required or not required? Bury overseas or bring back to Singapore?
5. Malay Customs: The kain batik lepas. Is it necessary?
These topics (and more) will be discussed in detail during the course.
Practical :
1. Bathing the deceased
2. Correct way of shrouding the deceased
3. Doas to recite
4. Talqin. Is this compulsory? ...and more

INFAQ: Infaq Mutton (All Year Round)
Mission: To support mosques and muslim organisations by providing halal mutton for their events / majlis.
Throughout the year we have had requests from various organisations for sponsorship of mutton and often we have to reject them because we could raise funds only during certain periods like Ramadan, or when we have Aqiqah Australia projects where we could bring in the mutton from Australia.
To make this effort more sustainable and for us to be able to respond to requests, we have decided to run this project all year around.
This would also provide avenues for the community to continue supporting various events throughout the year. For Infaq Mutton ( All Year Round ), we will only raise funds for frozen mutton, as it is much easier to acquire and cheaper to purchase compared to fresh mutton.
So far the total amount of mutton we have collected is 746kg, of which:
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Wak Tanjong
- 50kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Ar-Rabitah
- 30kg was donated to Masjid Mydin
- 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Maarof
- 100kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
- 136kg was donated to Masjid Mujahidin
- most recently 80kg was donated to Masjid Darul Makmur
We are now left with 40kg of mutton.
Current Mutton Request:
- Masjid Darul Makmur has requested for 70kg of mutton for their Monthly Hot Meal Distribution drive, which provides free meals for the needy and old aged residents at Yishun. We need 30kg of mutton by Thursday, 8 February 2018 to fulfil this request.

NEW INFAQ PROJECT:
Mission: To aid and provide poor families in Cambodia with proper housing.
While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected from the weather, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to purchase land and build up their own houses. There are thousands of families living in poverty in Cambodia, and some of the houses are simply made of straw (as shown above). In this Wakf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing.
This project, managed by Infaq.SG, will help to purchase a small piece of land and build up the houses for these poor families. One of our staff members, who travels every 2-3 months to Cambodia to send support, will be overseeing this project.
Current Request: 10 houses
Location: 1 House @ Wilayah Koh Kong & 9 Houses @ Wilayah Sihanoukville
Completion period: 2 months + 1 month of Administration.
Wakf Whole House - SGD $3,600
Wakf Part of House ( Shared with 6 pax ) - SGD $630 each.
**************
Frequently Asked Questions
1) How will I know the project has been completed?
- You will receive a certificate and a photo of the completion. We estimate this will take 2-3 months from the time you register your infaq.
2) How do I make payment?
- Payment can be made in the following ways:
i) By Cheque
ii) By Bank Transfer
iii) By Debit/Credit Card
iv) By home collection. Do email us your preferred date/time for the collection.

Hajj Badal
Hajj Badal is the term use for performing Hajj on behalf of others.
To do so one must meet the requirements for Hajj Badal.
1) This person must have passed away or is very sick (have no hope for surviving).
2) If best it must come from the wealth of the deceased that was left behind.
3) The family must have the financial means to do so after paying all the debts of the deceased.
4) The cost of Hajj Badal cannot be more than 1/3 the cost of an actual person going for Hajj.
5) The performer that performs this on behalf of the deceased must have gone for Hajj before.
What if all the wealth left behind was just enough to pay the debts he owed to others and nothing left behind? Then this is not compulsory for the family to perform Hajj Badal as it does not meet the requirement above. What if the family members still insists on doing so for them as they pool the money for this? May Allah swt reward them for this effort but please take note it is still not compulsory to do Hajj Badal for this deceased person because of the requirements not met. Do
not put burden onto yourself nor your family if you don't have the financial means. Allah knows best.
To sum up, Hajj Badal is only for one whom had wealth and was not able to perform the Hajj during his/her lifetime.

Quran Reading @ Home
Are you looking for a Quran Teacher to educate you and your family on reading and reciting the Quran at Home? In collaboration with Islamicevents.sg and Meqar, we hope we can help you match a suitable Quran Teacher for you and your family.
--------------------
Who is Meqar?
--------------------
MEQAR is a department under Mujahidin Mosque which focuses on Quran Education and training of Quran Teachers on the Qiraati methodology. They have trained more than 500 Quran teachers using the Qiraati methodology. In this collaboration, Meqar will advise Islamicevents.sg on suitable Quran Teachers that are ready to be matched.
------------------------------------------------------------
How do we match you with the Quran Teacher?
------------------------------------------------------------
- Location: We recognise that location plays an important role. We would not want to match a family and a teacher who lives on the other end of Singapore. We will match best by locating the Quran Teacher that is closest to you.
- Experience: Teaching children and teaching adults can be very different. Some of our Quran Teachers are well trained in handling children than adults and they prefer to teach children. Vice versa, you would want a Quran Teacher to be able to handle kids or children.
- Knowledge: You may prefer to have a more knowledgable Quran Teacher as you may only want to improve on Tajweed or embarking on Sanads. Some Quran Teachers can teach until a certain level. If you advance further, you may need to have another teacher to teach advance reading methodology.

Little Sahabah After School Program
Dear Busy Parents,
Are you looking for a center where your primary school child (7 years old to 14 years old) can be taken care of while you are busy at work after they are done with school (1.30pm to 7pm)?
Wish that your child reads the Quran daily and have someone to ensure that they perform their prayers?
Introducing the “Little Sahabah After School Program”
In this program, your child would be guided by a trained teacher with their homework and spelling tests, have daily Quran reading and memorisation sessions with a qualified Quran teacher. Furthermore they will be engaged under a program called Ghazali Project. They will also be taught and encouraged to perform the solat daily and fasts in Ramadan.
What is the Ghazali Project?
“Shaykh Hamza Yusuf explains, “The Ghazali Children's Project is nothing less than a revolution in developing humans, ethical and committed Muslim youth, who are in dire need of guidance in these troubled times. Imam al-Ghazali is the Proof of Islam, and these teachings, presented in a beautiful life-affirming way, will prove to be a major shift in the way Islam is taught to young people. As a community we owe much to Fons Vitae for bringing them to fruition. Let the
transformation begin!”
The Ghazali Children's Project aims to install good habits into our children such as humility, patience, love, altruism, gentleness, forbearance, and respect for other faiths while providing children with real and effective tools to address such failings as selfishness, back-biting, arguing, laziness, envy, bragging, hypocrisy, greed, wasting time and pride. In other words, we are shaping your child's character to be a responsible Muslim.
