Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
In his blessed and amazing book called Riyadus Solihin (The Garden of the Righteous People), Imam Nawawi chose "Tawbah" to be its second chapter. This is an interesting approach by Imam Nawawi as he is indicating that the path to righteousness starts with repentance.
Rasulullah ﷺ said, "All the children of Adam are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who always repent."
The Prophetic way is to admit that we are sinners but at the same time to never give up on repenting. Observe how Rasulullah ﷺ said 'always repent', because we might repent from a sin and fall for it again. Rasulullah ﷺ is telling us that no matter how many times we sin, the door of repentance will always be open for us.
This is also mentioned by Allah s.w.t in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 222, "Surely Allah loves those who always turn to Him in repentance and those who purify themselves"
Let us have good assumptions towards Allah s.w.t that He will always accept our repentance, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
