[Newsletter] 17 March 2021: If Our Children Ask Who Is Allah s.w.t.?

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.

It is important to instill an understanding of who Allah s.w.t. to children. Some parents may have had questions from their children about who Allah s.w.t. So, how should parents give answers?

One must remember, the question did not come from an atheist, but from a small child, so the way to answer it would be different.

Convey to the child that "Allah s.w.t. is the One Who created the child, his father, mother and everything around him."

Avoid words that show that Allah s.w.t. is creatures. Give understanding to the child that Allah s.w.t. is the Creator, not the creature or the created.

When parents say that Allah s.wt. is the Creator, then it means Allah s.w.t. it is not a creature. Because the creature did not create.

In the Quran, Allah s.w.t. also rebuked the disbelievers who worship idols and stones, because these worshiped can not create anything.

Because Allah s.w.t. is the Creator, then we should worship Him as creatures. Anyone who cannot create ants, then all of them are creatures, because Allah s.w.t. is the Creator.

Heart of the Qur'an (Understanding Yaasin)

Unless we spend our lives reading the Book, studying its meanings, putting it into practice, and calling upon others to do the same, we will never fully experience this light, as well as its all-encompassing guidance and everlasting benefits.

Yaasin is a chapter familiar to many, it is one of the many favourites and frequently memorized due to the hadith of Ma'qil ibn Yassar in which is referred to as being the ‘Heart of the Qur'an'. The comparison, if anything, conveys the importance of this Surah.

We grew up listening/reciting it weekly at the very least. We often read it as a gift (sadaqah) to the deceased.

But is it that the only benefits that come from the Heart of the Qur'an?

Barakah, Charting your Financial Roadmap as a practicing Muslim

Earning through our income and spending money can be an ibadah, if we do it correctly and in a lawful (halal) way. If done right, the money we earn can also grow. This is Barakah.

For this program, we will be talking about Money - the Barakah in our Wealth. Some say that money is the root of all evil and it is not everything. In truth, we need money for a lot of things, especially in this day and age. Money is not a problem. The problem is the person's attitude towards money and understanding how to use it and manage it properly.

Love, Reflecting the Wisdom of The Beloved

Love is definitely an attribute that is very worthy of relearning. And there is no one else who does and portrays it better than our Prophet ﷺ himself who was sent as rohmatan lil 'alamiin, a mercy to the worlds.

In this new series of topical hadith, we will delve into the prophetic tradition to learn the different degrees of love we can (and must) apply in our life. How can we show love for our children, our relatives, our friends, even towards oursleves and most importantly, how to love Allah and his Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Love those who are on earth, hence those who are in the heavens will love you."
