Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
How big is the immorality, don't despair asking for forgiveness
As human being, we are not free from doing bad deeds and for some people to the extent of doing immorality. Nevertheless, do not despair of the mercy and forgiveness of Allah s.w.t. Be quick to repent when you have exceeded the limit in disobedience because of Allah s.w.t. Most forgiving and merciful.
In the letter Az-Zumar verse 53, Allah s.w.t. reminds His servants not to despair in seeking His forgiveness:
"Say: "O My servants, who transgress against themselves, do not despair of Allah's mercy. Verily Allah forgives all sins. Verily, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful."
According to Ibn Kathir, this verse is a call to all sinners from unbelievers and others to repent and return to the truth. This verse is also a message that Allah s.w.t. forgive all sins for those who repent and return to the right path.
Even though the sins are so many like foam in the ocean. This verse must be understood as an attempt to repent and cannot be understood in a context other than repentance. Because polytheism can only be forgiven except for those who repent.
So, with that, don't give up hope to always seek the mercy and forgiveness of Allah s.w.t. after committing a crime. But don't repeat the immorality after asking for forgiveness from Allah s.w.t. Make it a practice to reflect what we have done at the end of every day. With this, it will help us to realize the wrong doings that we have done more quickly and will be able to lead us to seek forgiveness from Allah s.w.t. on the spot without delay.
Wallahualam.
