For every cent means saving a precious life
One of the despicable qualities according to Islam is being stingy. This has also been explained a lot in religious texts, both in the Qur'an, hadith and explanations from scholars. However, in one hadith there is a statement from the Prophet s.a.w.. about people who are very stingy according to him. Who is
he?
Hadith about the stingiest person according to the Prophet s.a.w. was narrated by Ali bin Abi Talib r.a. as follows.
Rasulullah s.a.w. said, "The most stingy person is the one who when my name is mentioned beside him, he does not want to read blessings on me." (H.R. At-Tirmidhi).
The word stingy in Arabic is al-bukhl, while in the words of the Prophet. In this case, he uses the word al-bakhiil.
Based on the hadith text above, the stingiest person according to the Prophet s.a.w. is a person who does not want to read shalawat to him when his name is mentioned. How not, pray for the Prophet s.a.w. by reading shalawat especially when hearing someone mention his name is free. This means that we are not asked to pay to say it, even the Prophet s.a.w. himself guarantees ten rewards for his people who want to
pray to him only once.
This has also been explained in the Sahih Muslim book as follows.
From Abdullah bin Amru bin Ash, that he had heard of the Prophet s.a.w.. said, "If you listen to a muezzin (adhan), then say what he says, then pray to me, because indeed whoever reads prayer for me once, then Allah will pray for him (have mercy) ten times. Then, ask Allah for me a wasilah (intermediary), then indeed it is a place in heaven that is not allowed (occupy) except for a servant of Allah's servants. And I wish I was the one who got it. So whoever asks for wasilah for me, it is lawful
to get intercession." (HR. Muslim).
Thus, so that we are not included as Muslims who are very stingy according to the Prophet, then read shalawat every time his name is mentioned. Moreover, we don't wait for his name to be mentioned, but consciously we read shalawat to him every time.
Wallahualam.
