Earning through our income and spending money can be an ibadah - if we do it correctly and in a lawful (halal) way. If done right, the money we
earn can also grow. This is Barakah.
But the Barakah from our money may disappear if:
- We spend our money wantonly on flashy things that serve no real
benefit.
- Our income source has elements of Riba in it.
- We are not managing our money well enough to sustain the people who are important to us.
Whenever our
income is blessed with barakah from Allah swt;
- What seems like a small income feels like it's BIG throughout the next salary date.
- What seems not enough eventually becomes enough to sustain our family till the next source of income comes in.
If we look at the dua for sufficient sustenance;
اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ
سِوَاكَ"
Allahumm-akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadhlika 'amman siwaaka
O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with
what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You."
Even the Dua that Rasulullah s.a.w teaches us doesn't talk about asking for more money but asking for provisions/income that is Lawful! At the same time, one way to earn barakah in our income, we must also cleansed our wealth!
