For every cent means saving a precious life.

Islam never forbids its adherents to be rich or orders them to live poor. When the prophet was alive, the conditions of the companions varied greatly, some were rich, some were middle-aged and some were poor.

The problem is not whether they are rich or poor, they become valuable when their wealth is used for da'wah purposes and their poverty does not turn them away from da'wah.

History records that many companions were known to be rich and at the same time very concerned about da'wah. The wealth that is so abundant does not dazzle them with wealth. Instead, the property owned is contributed for the benefit of da'wah.

Abu Bakr Ash-Siddiq r.a. for example, before embracing Islam, he was counted as a rich man. His wealth at that time was 40 thousand dirhams. Not to mention other treasures generated from the line of business.

The wealth and wealth that he had, when Islam was donated all in the way of Allah. The caliphs live not only to enrich themselves. But channeled for the benefit of Islam.

When Abu Bakr r.a. died, the property he left was only one dinar. He didn't think much of himself. Much of his wealth was donated for the benefit of da'wah.

Umar bin Khattab r.a. also considered rich. In historical records, there is no official record of the amount of his wealth. However, it can be seen from some facts of his life history.

When he married Ummi Kaltsum, Ali bin Abi Talib gave a dowry of thousands of gold dinars. And Umar also had a will that his wives be given 4000 dinars.

Although he was rich, when he died he had a debt of 80 thousand to Baitul Mal. He willed to his son, if his wealth is not enough, then paid with Khattab's family property. Again, the wealth that is owned is used for the benefit of da'wah, so that when he dies there is nothing left.

Another companion who is also a rich person is Uthman bin Affan r.a. When he died, in Uthman's savings there were 30 million dirhams, 500 thousand dirhams, 150 thousand dinars. Not to mention a thousand camels and other treasures.

Like other companions, during his lifetime Uthman was a person who also cared about da'wah. The wealth spent in the way of Allah is not small. The well of Ruma, the financing of the Tabuk war and so on, is evidence that his wealth is channeled for the benefit of da'wah.

In line with other companions, he is also a generous person. Especially if for the sake of propaganda. He once gave people 100 dinars, often helped people in need, donated Yanbu' land and his alms, if calculated, had reached 4000 dinars. However, when he died, according to Hasan bin Ali, he only left 700 dirhams.

How terrible it would be if the wealthy Muslims of today imitate them. Existing assets are not only enjoyed by themselves, but are used for da'wah purposes. Thus, there will be a big leap in the field of da'wah and the people will become more dignified because they are not financially dependent on other people.

WINTERIZATION SUPPORT TO FLOOD VICTIM FAMILIES IN UGANDA

Despite reaching temperatures of about 27 degrees Celsius in some areas during the summer, winter in Uganda may be tremendously harsh, and extremely cold in mountainous areas with prolonged periods of snowfalls, resulting in temperatures below zero.

Following the recent floods which took place in Mbale in June 2022, over 1000 families were displaced without proper clothing, being forced to stay under grass thatched inadequate shelters, leaving them very vulnerable to rain and snow.

Winterization support to be provided in form of non-food items: mattresses, high thermal blankets, mosquito nets and bed sheets. Each Winter Package will contain 1 Mattress, 1 Blanket, 1 Bed sheet and 1 Mosquito Net.

We shall distribute family Winter Packages to 200 families in 2 villages of Mbale district.
