According to the World Hunger Index 2022, Pakistan ranks 92nd out of 116 countries with a score of 24.7, indicating serious levels of hunger. In the coming decades, 38% of Pakistan's population will be affected by poverty and food shortages.

The recent flooding crisis in Pakistan has exacerbated the hunger situation, followed by the worst floods in Pakistan's history, triggered by monsoon rains but exacerbated by extreme weather changes. More than 1300 people have died as a result of the floods, from drowning, malnutrition or waterborne diseases.
