Wealth is not a measure of success in life

If many people are asked about the meaning of success, usually the answer will be wealth. Wealth is then interpreted as a lot of wealth, which is obtained with full sincerity in working or trying.

But it turns out that in Islam wealth has a different meaning. Because in the Quran and Hadith the size of someone who is rich has been stated. Wealth is not only material but includes the soul and heart.

We can see in the Quran "Indeed We have sent down to you a book in which there are causes of glory for you. So do you not understand it?” (QS Al Anbiya: 10).

The glory listed in the verses of the Qur'an can be interpreted as success. "Every soul will taste death. And in fact only on the Day of Judgment will your reward be perfected. Whoever is kept away from hell and put into heaven, he has truly succeeded. Life in this world is nothing but deceptive pleasure." (QS Ali Imran: 185)

From the fragment of the verse, we are clearly shown that success is when we die and are put into heaven. So, whatever our job today, if later we go to heaven, it means we have been successful.

The key to success according to Islam is Tawakkal. Tawalkal means we are obliged to surrender all matters only to Allah. It also means that we must always leave all kinds of affairs only in God's way, not anything else. For the results later, everything is up to Allah, we as humans can only try.

The meaning of success is not about material things. Islam never discriminates between the rich and the poor. Allah also never sees which family we come from and how rich we are. What will be used as a benchmark for success according to Islam are the acts of worship that we do.

As long as we are still given breath, it is not too late to fix everything. As long as we are alive, there is still an opportunity for us to reorganize and re-conceptualize the meaning of success.
