Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
The word 'Barakah' is a genuine word from Allah s.w.t that cannot be found in
another word to copy its true meaning. Except to be taken and said in its original language which is barakah or Malay is called berkat.
However, the word Barakah can be understood by giving specific examples. For example, if a person does a job while that job cannot provide peace or happiness, until their life is always in trouble and they do not develop talent and joy, then that is said to be without blessing.
Barakah are something that is linked to the afterlife, such as finding halal sustenance, giving alms, having a family and also doing worship. Islam teaches that all things will be blessed in this world and the hereafter. As the prayer that is recited during the Qunut prayer is "Oh GOD, bless everything that you have blessed."
It means how many Barakah of Allah s.w.t, such as a spouse, offspring, job, wealth,
knowledge, age, health or whatever. What is more important is the Barakah. If given a mate, let the mate be able to take responsibility in Islam. If blessed with children, let his children be righteous and useful in this world and in the hereafter.
If something is only according to the world's standards, then what the Muslims get will be the same as what the infidels get. The difference between believers and non-believers in terms of the
blessings that we get. Allah s.w.t grants the unbelievers sometimes more than what the believers have. But the difference is, whatever belongs to the unbeliever has no Barakah in it because all of it will not benefit him in the hereafter.
It is encouraging for our community to follow the path shown by the Prophet s.a.w. because only that path has blessings and
salvation. Reluctance to follow the path of the Prophet s.a.w is a very big loss because there is no blessing other than the path of Islam.
This is also the natural desire to worship and magnify Allah s.w.t. that grows from the heart of a knowledgeable person. Therefore, the need to worship can be fulfilled by the blessed path that is prayer.
Wallahu a'lam.
