[Newsletter] 4 April 2023: Patience in Islam

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.

What is the meaning of patience?

Patience means enduring something difficult. Allah s.w.t. mention the word patience more than 90 times in various places in the Quran. Sometimes by praising patience itself, sometimes also by praising those who are patient in the presence of Allah s.w.t. and whatever degree Allah s.w.t. has prepared for them.

In Islam, patience has three degrees:

• Be patient with obedience

• Be patient with disobedience

• Be patient with provisions and calamities

The greatest degree of patience is the patience of obedience. Because that is the greatest patience that is expected, when you perform obedience, then you are patient with it and patient yourself, so that you always continue to perform according to the most perfect form, with all its humility and submission.

Be patient with disobedience, that is when your soul always tells you to do evil and it destroys you, then you are patient and expect reward only from Allah s.w.t. patiently accepting the fate of Allah s.w.t., done when Allah s.w.t. set his destiny upon you and to lighten your sins or raise your rank.

The servants of Allah s.w.t. the righteous are tested by Allah s.w.t. with various misfortunes. Some are tested with wealth and some are tested with their intellect until their intellect is lost and they become stupid. Some were also tested on his body, so that some of his body parts and senses did not work.

May all of us benefited by what Allah s.w.t. has given us on the understanding of patience in Islam. Amin.

Alhamdulillah! In the month of Ramadan, we've seen the incredible change in the acts of our ibadah! With the increase numbers of Solah, number of pages read with the Quran and even giving out sadaqah - it's really SubhanAllah!

Upon reading the Quran, we definitely would want to understand and submerge into the infinite pool of wisdom from the words of Allah ta'ala! Even during the next Tarawih or Jama'ah, you definitely wouldn't want to miss out crying from the understanding the recitation of Quran from the Imam!

Mosque Tech Challenge

Starting 15 April 2023

Innamal a'malu binniyat - “Actions are dependent upon their Intentions”

Ideas form from all places, why not we nurture ideas from the the most pure and sacred place of our community, that is the Mosque.

Mosque Tech Challenge started off as a 24hr+ Hackathon Competition that aims to provide a platform to seek, implement and share the best and coolest ideas with technology towards the benefit of the community.

This is the 6th year we are running this event, with the intention of nurturing ideas from within the Mosque, developing skills and knowledge through learning workshops, and enabling the teams to prototype technological solutions towards the benefit of the community and beyond.

And al-Mulk being a Makkan (Surah that surah, the focus is to develop and strengthen the faith; which we are all IN DIRE NEED of.
