For every cent means saving a precious life

Is it permissible for a wife to give alms to her husband especially if the husband has not worked or has little income.

Giving charity to husbands is an important part that must be considered by a wife.  Alms issued by a wife to her husband will not only foster a harmonious relationship with Allah s.w.t.  It is also the reason for the establishment of an intimate relationship with her husband and family members.

When a wife gives alms to her husband, she gets two rewards, as the Prophet said, "For the two women get two rewards, namely the reward (connecting) relatives and the reward of alms."  (Muttafaqun 'alaih).

In addition, when a wife gives alms to her husband, she has realized the wisdom and purpose of marriage which makes the marriage bond stronger and stronger.

Among the goals and wisdom of marriage is to regulate the relationship between men and women based on the principle of exchange of rights, mutual help and productive cooperation in an atmosphere of love and mutual respect for one another.

Therefore, if a wife wants to give alms, first pay attention to her husband whether he deserves alms or not before giving alms to others.  Because giving charity to a poor husband must be prioritized before giving charity to others.

In practice, charity to husbands who do not have income or low income is not only material.

Motivating husbands to be passionate about earning a living for the family is also a part of alms that deserves attention and is done by a wife.
