For every cent means saving a precious life
In the hadith it have been stated that water charity is one of the ways to obtain the forgiveness of Allah s.w.t. and one of the tickets to heaven.
On one occasion, Saad bin Ubadah r.a. asked the Prophet s.a.w., "O Messenger of Allah, what is the most important charity?" He replied, "Giving water." (Sahih Abu Daud).
Water is very important for
Allah's creations, but there are times when some of us have limitations in accessing water. Helping people in improving access to water, helping that person includes charity. Sometimes what we think is a small act can be the mean for us to get into heaven.
From Abu Hurairah r.a., the Prophet s.a.w. said: "I saw someone enjoying himself in paradise because he cut a branch in the middle of the road because it was disturbing the Muslims passing by"
(HR. Bukhari).
From Anas: Verily, Sa'id Ubadah came to the Prophet s.a.w., and he said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed, my mother has died, but she did not leave a will. Is it beneficial for him if I give charity on his behalf? The Prophet said: "Yes. And you should give alms with water." (HR Thabrani)
Narrated by Abu Dawud from Sa'id bin Ubadah himself: He said: O Messenger of Allah, my
mother has died, so what charity is better? The word: "Water." Then he dug a well and said: "This well is for Ibu Sa'id." (HR Ibn Khuzaimah and Ibn Hibban)
From the hadith above, it is proven that even our late parents can enjoy the reward of charity done by their children.
Thus, as long as the water is used by His creatures, the reward will flow for him until the Day of
Judgment.
