For every cent means saving a precious lif
Humanitarian aid is the aid of necessities and goods to people who need help. Usually it is short-term aid until it is replaced by long-term aid by the government and other institutions.
The main objective and focus of humanitarian aid is to save lives, reduce suffering and maintain dignity in a humanitarian
mission.
Islam strongly encourages and emphasizes the entire Muslim community to have the nature of concern and care to help those who are afflicted by calamity, hardship and so on in the humanitarian mission.
Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. encourage doing humanitarian missions through the hadith which means: "Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, then he should immediately benefit him." (Muslim
History, no. 2199)
He also said which means: "The best human being is the one who is most useful to others." (Narrated by Ibn Hibban)
Next, the Prophet s.a.w. detailed the meaning of charity in the context of humanitarian missions through a hadith which means: "Charity is obligatory on every Muslim. A friend asked: 'If there is nothing to give? His Majesty replied: He should work and
when he gets money, give some of it in charity. The friend asked again: If you cannot work? His Majesty replied, help the poor who are in trouble. If this also cannot be done? asked the friend again. His Majesty replied: Give advice to do good. The friend asked: If even that cannot be done? Answer He said: Don't hurt other people's hearts, that's charity.'" (Al-Bukhari Narrated, no 6022)
In addition, lack of money is not a reason not to give
charity, even the Prophet s.a.w. demanding to try to find work so that part of the results can be donated.
The Prophet s.a.w once reminded that there is a need to care or be concerned about the surrounding community who are in trouble and difficulty either in the context of the domestic community as well as the foreign community.
