Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi
Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
Martyrdom is one of the honors in Islam. Martyrdom has a value that is as noble as a life full of dignity,
in a state of faith, and not being enslaved by anyone, both spiritually and physically.
In general, the term martyrdom is applied to Muslims who die while fighting in the way of Allah. However, it turns out that martyrdom is also given to Muslims outside of these conditions.
This shows how extensive the grace of Allah s.w.t. is because if martyrdom was given only to those who died on the battlefield, there would undoubtedly be very few people who would attain the
noble degree of martyrdom.
So what are some of the types of martyrdom?
1. People Killed in the Way of Allah s.w.t.
Most of the Prophet's companions who were martyred were those killed in various wars. However, what is included in sabilillah is not just war. Moreover, war in this era requires very strict conditions and criteria to be categorized as a fi sabilillah war.
Sabilillah in a general and very broad sense, namely as a path (anything)
that conveys Allah's pleasure, in the form of all deeds that Allah permits to glorify His (religious) words and implement His laws.
2. People who die in the way of Allah
In this sense, death while seeking knowledge, death due to an accident on a missionary trip, death while on a missionary agenda or the death of a law enforcer while on duty to eradicate immorality and evil.
3. People who died due to disease outbreaks/pandemics
Those who die in
a state of faith and contract the disease will be characterized as having died in a state of martyrdom.
4. People who die from disease in their stomachs
"Whoever dies because of (a disease) in the stomach is a martyr" (HR. Muslim)
People who die due to diseases in their stomachs, whether due to drowning, childbirth, or other things, are rewarded with the reward of martyrdom.
5. People who drown
6. People Who Were Burnt to
Death
A person who burns to death is a martyr, whether his house catches fire, his car catches fire, the stove explodes, his vehicle catches fire, or a fire occurs due to a work accident, he dies with the reward of martyrdom.
7. A woman who died because of her pregnancy
8. People who were killed because they were defending their religion and family members
9. People who died were killed because they defended their religion, blood and family
members.
