Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.

Leadership is a heavy trust-loaded with responsibility and obligation. This is in line with the duty as a caliph on this earth that Allah s.w.t. bestow upon mankind the mission of developing and prospering this vast earth. 

Leadership is not a privilege, rather it is a serious responsibility. It is not an advantage or a glory, but a sacrifice. It is also not pleasure and luxury, but hard work and earnest effort. In fact, it is not a reckless and blind action, but an action full of strategy and planning. In short, leadership is a vehicle for development, progress, well-being and happiness in this world and the hereafter. 

It should be understood, Islam considers that every human being whether male or female is generally a leader. The minimum is that each person is a leader to himself and the highest is the responsibility of a leader to his subordinates. 

In this regard, the Prophet s.a.w. once said the meaning: "Each of you is a leader and you will be accountable to those under your leadership; a leader is a leader and will be accountable to his people; a man is a leader to his family members and will be accountable to his family members; a woman is a leader  in her husband's house and will be responsible for his children and his leadership; and the khadam is entrusted with his master's property and will be responsible for what is under his trust." (Hadith Narrated by Bukhari) 

It is clear from the meaning of the hadith that the responsibilities and obligations that fall on the shoulders of every Muslim are different from each other depending on the position and power of leadership entrusted to him. But the biggest responsibility that will be held accountable in the hereafter is the responsibility of a leader towards his people. So it is not surprising that the Prophet s.a.w. used to remind every leader about the responsibility of a true leader. 

The Messenger of Allah s.w.t. said the meaning: "A leader who controls the affairs of the Muslims, but does not earnestly observe the interests of his people, does not advise them for their good and well-being, later he will not be able to enter heaven with them."  (Hadith Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim)
