For every cent means saving a precious life
During the apostolic period, Rasulullah s.a.w. has four uncles. Two of his uncles named Hamzah bin Abdul Muthalib and al-Abbas bin Abdul Muthalib r.a. have believed in Allah and His Messenger. Then the uncle of Rasulullah s.a.w. whose name was Abu Talib bin Abdul Muthalib did not accept Islam but still helped, guarded, and did not oppose the preaching of the Prophet s.a.w.
Meanwhile, Abu
Lahab, whose real name is Abdul Uzza bin Abdul Muthalib, became the only uncle of the Prophet who was against and hostile to the Prophet s.a.w. Abu Lahab is said to have a perfect life because Abu Lahab has a noble lineage. He is a Quraysh and has a position among his people. In fact, he became the uncle of the best human being as well as the most important Messenger, namely Muhammad s.a.w.
Not only that, Abu Lahab also has a handsome and
beautiful face. According to Islamic history, he is described as a figure who is very white and has a bright face. Besides having a beautiful face, Abu Lahab also has abundant wealth from the results of his business success and has a respectable position. In fact, Abu Lahab is also known to be very good at getting along with other people.
However, all the perfections of life that Abu Lahab has do not guarantee that his life will be meaningful.
Because all of these things are meaningless without a sense of faith. So that Allah humiliated him and even recorded him as a wretched person. As Rasulullah s.a.w. said, “Indeed, Allah does not look at your appearance and your wealth. However, Allah only looks at your hearts and your deeds.” (HR. Muslim)
Uncle of Rasulullah s.a.w. known as Abu Lahab because of his disbelief. Lahab itself means fire, because when he is angry, Abu Lahab's
face turns red like fire. Because of his disbelief, Allah kept the name Abu Lahab for him and called him Abu Lahab in the Koran. Even though Abu Lahab was known to be intelligent, his intelligence was of no use at all in the sight of Allah.
At the end of his life, Abu Lahab died from boils all over his body. Even his corpse was abandoned for three days because no one wanted to come near. With shame, Abu Lahab's family dug a grave and pushed Abu
Lahab's body with a long stick into the hole. After that, they pelted Abu Lahab's grave with stones until his body was buried and that is the worst death.
Based on the life story of Abu Lahab, Muslims can learn that the perfection of life such as wealth, position, intelligence, fame, good looks and various worldly pleasures is not everything. All the perfections of life possessed by humans will actually be meaningless if they are not based
on faith and piety to Allah.
