Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
Umrah is a worship that complements the Hajj worship and can be performed at any time, unlike Hajj which is performed only in the month of Zulhijjah based on the Hijrah calendar. Umrah is an opportunity
used by Muslims who miss the Kaaba and also the atmosphere of worship in the Holy Land.
However, lately, more and more Muslims have started recording and uploading their pictures and videos during Umrah, thus affecting their concentration in performing Umrah. Although
originally, the purpose was taken only as a memory, but over time, it has increasingly become a trend and a habit for those who perform Umrah to display their presence there by uploading on social media such as Instagram and Facebook. This causes many Muslims to lose focus and the purpose of worship due to social media interference and their insanity to upload pictures in Mecca for friends and followers to see. There are among Muslims who record circumambulation in the Kaaba, and other acts that
certainly damage the deeds of worship.
Umrah is an act of worship that aims to gain Allah's pleasure. If the worship is mixed with trivial worldly matters such as taking pictures and uploading videos while worshiping, then this must surely ruin the worship. Furthermore, displaying worship in public can cause ripples that can lead individuals to minor polytheism. Therefore, the best practice is the practice that is hidden from public knowledge and if it can be hidden,
the practice should be hidden.
Thus, always refresh our intention every time performing and ibadah. Cause we dont want our ibadah will go in vain. Ultimately Ibadah is the path towards us building our bridge to Jannah.
Wallahu'alam
