Sincerity is the Key to Charity Acceptance

Linguistically, Ikhlas means pure and clean from mixture. The fact of sincerity is independent from what is other than Allah which means that a person worships only hoping for the pleasure of Allah and not because of creatures. It should be known that sincerity comes from true intentions, but sincerity requires an effort and seriousness because to get sincerity and calmness in worship is difficult because of many distractions that come from lust and the whispers of the devil.

Therefore, the sincerity must remain in its state before, during and after performing the practice because the practice may be damaged after the worship occurs due to the sense of riya' that arises for the good done.

The word of Allah in surah al-Bayyinah verse 5,

"However, they were not commanded except to worship God with sincere worship to Him, and remain firm on monotheism, and that they establish prayer and give zakat. And that is the true religion."

In that verse, Allah demands us to worship sincerely, only for Allah without any other purpose. Therefore, those who give alms, infaq and waqf should always remind themselves to always be sincere in implementing it, not just to get praise and flattery by announcing the practice to the general public on social media.

May our hearts remain clear from the whispers of Syaitan. Ameen.
