Fasting that is not accepted by Allah s.w.t
Assalamualaikum
Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
Among the characteristics
of Fasting that Allah s.w.t. does not accept;
In performing worship, of course we would want the worship that we perform to be accepted by Allah s.w.t. and bring reward for us. Therefore, we should do it sincerely and earnestly.
When the act of fasting has been done in the best possible way and sincerely, then Allah s.w.t. will definitely accept the worship of His servant and give him a greater reward.
But it should also be remembered that Allah s.w.t. is the Most Just. He may not accept someone's fast for certain reasons. What
reason is that?
Here are some characteristics of fasting that Allah s.w.t. does not accept.
1. Not Fasting Sincerely
For people who are not sincere in doing good for Allah s.w.t. then, Allah s.w.t. may not accept the act.
Fasting is also included in this provision, where Allah s.w.t. will not accept the fasting of His servants who are not sincere.
Allah s.w.t. said which means, "And We came to the deed they were doing, then We made that deed (like) flying dust." (QS. Al-Furqan verse 23)
2. Far from the guidance of the Prophet s.a.w.
The second feature of fasting that is not accepted by Allah s.w.t. is fasting that has not been done according to Sharia.
Islam has been perfected by Allah s.w.t. before Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. died Therefore, a person
cannot add or subtract from anything that has been established in it, including fasting.
There are many verses and hadiths that command Muslims to follow the teachings of the Prophet s.a.w. in worship, including fasting.
One of them, Rasulullah s.a.w. said, "Whoever makes new things in this matter (religion) that is not part of it, then that practice will be rejected." (HR Bukhari and Muslim)
3. Zakat that has not been Paid or Not Paid
The third features of fasting that are not accepted by Allah s.w.t. is that he has not paid zakat, either zakat mal or zakat fitrah.
Whoever forgets to pay zakat or does not pay it, then the Ramadan fast he has done will only be between heaven and earth. That charity cannot penetrate the sky
because Allah s.w.t. has rejected it.
These are among the characteristic that we as Muslims must strive to avoid.
Wallahu'alam.
