FIDYAH 2024
Who is Obligated To Pay The Fidyah?
Fidyah is obligatory for individuals who miss or skip fasting, unable to repay their fast from the previous Ramadhan due to valid reasons such
as illness, as well as for those who are critically ill with little to no chances of recovery, weak due to old age, pregnant or breastfeeding women who are concerned about their child's safety. Those who have missed or are exempted from fasting due to legitimate reasons are permitted to pay the Fidyah.
Surah Baqarah Verse 184
“[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of other days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers good [i.e., excess] - it is better for him.
But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.”
