"[On completing the duties of the day and night when a Muslim comes to sleep, he should follow a few rules which are very simple, easy and meaningful. Observance of these rules will make his sleep fully Islamic; disregard of them, however is not a sin.]"
The phrase above emphasizes that following the recommend etiquettes or guideline for sleep in Islam, as outlined texts in Bidayah al-Hidayah, is a meritorious and spiritually beneficial
act, not obligatory.
So, what are the basic rules for good manner of sleeping?
- Laying out your bed pointing to the direction of the Ka'aba
- Sleeping on your right side
