In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know.
Ameen.
Solat jenazah ghaib means a prayer performed in another country that is far away from the country of origin. The shari'at of solat jenazah ghaib can be seen based on the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah r.a.:
It means: "Indeed the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. told about the news of al-Najasyi's death on the day of his death. His Majesty s.a.w. go out to the musolla, make rows and recite the takbir four times." Narrated by al-Bukhari (1245)
Solat jenazah ghaib can be performed starting from the moment of the news of death and continues for three days. This is because those three days are a period of penance according to what is known from fiqh books.
Among the requirements for funeral prayers are:
Ghaib funeral prayer is performed in a different state to the location of the jenazah.
The ghaib funeral prayer is performed after the jenazah is bathed.
The execution of the ghaib funeral
prayer is the same as the usual funeral prayer.
First: Takbiratul ihram while intending funeral prayer. An example of the statement of intention is as follows: “I’m performing this fardhu jenazah prayer for Allah Taala.”
Second: After saying the takbir, place both hands on the chest like a normal prayer, then read Al-Fatihah.
Third: After finishing reciting Al-Fatihah, recite the takbir a second time while raising both hands up to the earlobes, then placing them back on the chest, and recite any blessings upon the Prophet s.a.w.
The afdhal salawat is the Ibrahimiyah salawat as mentioned in
the chapter on the laws of prayer.
Fourth: Recite the takbir for the third time followed by supplicating for the jenazah. Supplicating for the jenazah is the main purpose of funeral prayer.
At least the supplication is:
اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمهُ أوِ اغْفِرلَه
It means: "Oh God! Bless him. Or Oh God! Forgive him.”
Fifth: Say the Takbeer the fourth time, then read:
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ وَلاَ تَفْتِنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ
It means: "Oh God! Do not withhold his reward from us and do not slander us after his death and forgive us and him."
Narration of Abu Daud (3201)
Sixth: Say salam twice, that is to the right and to the left as in other prayers.
Wallahu'alam.
