Persuading
children to recite the Quran every day requires patience, especially if your little one starts to show an attitude when reciting the Quran.
Parents may have a hard time dealing with their children in this aspect. But don't worry, because there are actually ways to deal with children who don't want to recite the Quran.
1. Set a consistent time for reciting the Quran
Setting a consistent time to recite the Quran makes children understand that this activity is part of their daily routine. If parents decide that their child will study the Quran in the afternoon, then do this every day at the same time.
Implement study and play times that are appropriate to children's activities. Then, after your child understands the rules, apply them consistently and with discipline so that they understand their rights and obligations in this life.
2. Explain the reasons for reciting the Quran
There will definitely come a time when children start to feel lazy about carrying out the routine of reciting the Quran or learning to read the Quran. The reason is, children's moods change easily and their desire to play is great.
Therefore, Parents must clearly explain the reasons for reciting the Quran so that they really understand what their responsibilities are as Muslims.
Make sure that you do not scold the child and explain this gently. Parents can also use fairy tales or Islamic cartoons to give children an understanding that learning to recite the Quran
is part of their obligations as Muslims.
3. Set a good example
Rather than advice, a good role model is certainly more likely to encourage children to
adhere to routines such as studying and reciting the Quran. Therefore, Parents need to build a home atmosphere that is full of Quran reading activities.
Before telling your child to recite the Quran, parents should also build this good habit in themselves. That way, children can see that their parents are doing this activity well. For children,
parents are their daily examples and role models.
4. Give simple rewards and praise
Rewards or prizes can be one way for parents to encourage their children to
recite the Quran or learn to read the Quran. Give them a simple gift or celebration when they successfully finish reading the Quran.
In fact, just a reward in the form of praise can make a child very proud of what he has done. Therefore, always praise your child every time he shows progress in the process of learning to recite the
Quran.
