In Islam, it is very important to ensure that everything that we do is in line with Islamic Syari'ah. This is important in order to gain Allah's blessing.
This includes when it comes to executing transactions. It is very important that the transactions conduct do not fall into prohibited categories. Below are the
examples of prohibited transactions:-
Firstly, riba. Riba literally means ziyadah (extra). According to the term, riba means taking extra money from principal or capital in vain. Where as, according to the Qur'an, al-Hadith and Ijma' (agreement) of legal scholars is forbidden, riba is a major sin, riba is a practice that dilutes good deeds.
Secondly, maysir. Maysir is a (gambling) transaction. Gambling is a game (la'bun) that contains bets from both parties (muraahanah). Maysir is include in all forms of speculation. All transactions that contain speculative or profit-making elements fall into the category of gambling and are therefore prohibited.
Thirdly, gharar. Gharar is (uncertainty) transaction. Gharar is a transaction whose object is not clear, not owned, whose existence is unknown, or cannot be handed over at the time the transaction is made unless otherwise stipulated in syari'ah.
Fourthly, dharar. Dharar is a (persecution, mutual loss) transaction.
Dharar is a transaction that can cause damage, loss, or there is an element of persecution, so that it can result in the invalid transfer of ownership rights.
Fifthly, an immoral transaction. Sinful transactions are transactions related to businesses that directly or indirectly violate (oppose) the laws of God and His Messenger.
Sixly, suht. Suht is a (haram in substance) transaction. Suht or haram goods are goods whose essence is forbidden to be consumed, produced, and traded according to the texts found in the Qur'an and al-Hadith.
Lastly, risywah. Risywah is a (bribe) transaction. Risywah is anything that is given to invalidate
the right thing and allow the invalid (wrong) thing. Risywah (bribe) in legal matters and bribery that must be held accountable for an act, the law is unlawful without a difference of opinion and is a major sin.
May Allah protect us from doing the Harams and May Allah always guide us towards the right path. Ameen.
