2 Rejab 1446H / 2 January 2025 Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi
wabarakatuh, We pray this message finds you in the best of health and steadfast iman. To those returning from your travels, welcome back to the rhythm of daily life. As we embrace the sacred month of Rajab, it’s a timely reminder to reflect and prepare ourselves spiritually for the months ahead. 2024 may have brought its share of joys and challenges, but as we turn the page, let us focus on growth and betterment in 2025. This is the perfect time to renew our intentions, strengthen our connection with Allah, and strive towards personal and communal excellence. The month of Rajab (also spelled Rejab) holds significant spiritual importance in Islam. It is the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar and one of the four sacred months mentioned in the Qur'an. Below are some key aspects of its significance: 1. One of the Sacred Months- Allah mentions the four sacred months in the Qur'an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:36):
"Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah from the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred."
- These sacred months, which include Rajab, Dhul-Qa'dah, Dhul-Hijjah, and Muharram, are times when acts of worship and good deeds are especially rewarded, and sins are considered more serious.
2. Preparation for Ramadan- Rajab is often seen as a precursor to Ramadan. Many Muslims use this month to start increasing their acts of worship, such as fasting, praying, and giving charity, as spiritual preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
3. Event of Isra' and Mi'raj- The miraculous night journey of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), known as Isra' and Mi'raj, is believed to have occurred during Rajab (although the exact date is not unanimously agreed upon).
- This event marks the Prophet's journey from Makkah to Jerusalem (Isra') and his ascension to the heavens (Mi'raj), where he received the command for Muslims to pray five times daily.
4. Increased Opportunities for Worship- Many Muslims emphasize voluntary fasting
during Rajab. While fasting in this month is not obligatory, it is recommended as an act of devotion to Allah.
- Acts of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), istighfar (seeking forgiveness), and extra prayers are also highly encouraged.
5. Historical Significance- Several important Islamic battles and events took place in the month of Rajab, highlighting its historical relevance in the development of
Islam.
Du'a Often Associated with Rajab:Muslims may recite this du'a at the beginning of Rajab as a way of seeking blessings and preparing for Ramadan:
Rajab is a time to renew one's commitment to Allah, focus on repentance, and prepare spiritually for the upcoming holy months. |

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The sins between one umrah and another are wiped away, but for an acceptable hajj, there is no reward except paradise.” (Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim) Pilgrimage to Mecca, also known as hajj, is an obligation for a Muslim who is physically and financially able. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and for most Muslims, it is the dream of a lifetime. Particularly for Hajj, it needs to be paid for with pure savings and because you cannot borrow money to perform Hajj, Muslims are encouraged to save and invest for this expense as soon as possible. Save and invest to fulfil the 5th pillar of our faith.
