What is Ramadhan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar. A month of revelation of Al-Qur’an, fasting, and
worship.
Hmm.. but why do we have to fast?
- Spiritual Cleansing: A special month for us to seek blessings from Allah s.w.t and enhance our spirituality.
- Obedience to
Allah s.w.t: Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam where we refrain ourselves from eating, drinking and following one’s desire.
- Compassion of others: Hunger makes us more empathetic towards the less fortunate community as they may not have access to enough food and water daily.
How long do we have to fast?
We are required to fast for 29-30 days, from dawn (fajr) to sunset (maghrib).
