Assalamualaikum dear
parent, School holidays are here and for many Muslim parents in Singapore, that brings two feelings at once: Relief… and worry. Relief because the rush slows down. Worry because long hours, loose routines, and screens slip in faster than we expect. If you feel this, hear this clearly: You’re not alone, and you’re not failing. You’re raising children in a world no generation before has faced — constant screens, instant dopamine, endless distractions. And yet, you’re still trying to keep their hearts close to Allah. That already counts as effort, love, and iman. Today, we’re sharing 3 simple, spiritually grounding habits that help your child enjoy a meaningful, gadget-light holiday even while you’re busy at work.
1. A Morning Ritual That Begins With AllahYou don’t even need to be home for this. Set one small, repeatable routine your child does before any screen time: • Listen to one short ayah (prepare a playlist) • Read or recite a simple
doa • Reflect on one Name of Allah • Mention one thing they’re grateful for Psychologically, this anchors their day. Spiritually, it reminds them Who guides their day. Practically, it stops screens from becoming “the first thing”. General child behaviour studies show that
changing the first 5 minutes of the day can reduce screen craving by up to 30–40%.
2. Give Them a Daily “Mini Amanah” While You’re at WorkChildren behave better when they feel trusted. Give them one small spiritual responsibility: • Water the plants while saying “SubhanAllah” • Set up a Maghrib prayer space before you reach home • Read one page of a Quran
storybook • Do one kindness act a day Leave it as a fridge note or WhatsApp message. This builds: ✓ structure ✓ meaning ✓ accountability ✓ reduced boredom ✓ less mindless scrolling And it grows iman quietly without you constantly supervising.
3. A 10-Minute “Signs of Allah Evening Routine”When you return home tired, you don’t need a big activity.
Just 10 minutes: • A short walk • Watching the Maghrib sky • Talking about Allah’s creations • A short doa together This replaces screen dopamine with connection, calm, and spiritual grounding. It ends their day with presence, not overstimulation. Many parents find that this tiny ritual shifts their child’s
entire holiday rhythm.
A prayer for your home May Allah fill your child’s holiday with barakah, calm, and moments that bring their little heart closer to Him. And may He ease every parent trying their best in this challenging time.

On 15th of November 2025, we were tasked to setup a photo booth for LBKM Annual Bursary Awards at Suntec City.
Unlike any photobooth you’ve seen — this one is powered by AI, Green Screen, and Automation. Yes, “AI” and
“automation” are buzzwords everywhere now… but how does this photobooth actually work? Step 1: Queue & Prepare Your QR Code Every recipient’s information was pre-registered in the database, and each received a
unique QR code.
When you join the queue, simply get your QR code ready on your phone.
Step 2: Scan & Get Into Position Scan your QR
code and strike your pose!
A TV monitor shows your live preview so you can adjust your position.
Your name also appears automatically — pulled straight from the database.
Step 3: Just Wave
👋 No need to press any buttons.
A simple hand-wave triggers the AI to recognise you and start the countdown.
Step 4: Look at the Camera &
Snap! When the countdown begins, don’t look at the TV — look at the camera.
And… SNAP! Your personalised photo is captured instantly.
Step 5: Check Your Email Your photo is immediately sent to your email — no waiting around. (If you don’t see it, check your spam folder… and if it’s still not there, you’re welcome to take another shot 😄) The Results? Over 200 photos taken — fast, smooth, fully automated.
And most importantly… everyone seemed happy with their shots.
This is how we’re implementing technology into events: seamless, efficient, and user-friendly.
Is it perfect? No — and we’re always improving.
But Alhamdulillah, a strong step forward.
Many thanks to LBKM for
trusting us to run this AI Photobooth for the bursary awards.
Were you one of the bursary recipients? Share your experience — we’d love to hear your thoughts about the photobooth!
