Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi
wabarakatuh, If Ramadhan were to begin soon, would our hearts be ready to receive it? Every year, many of us quietly say the same thing: “I’ll start properly when Ramadhan
begins.” “I’ll fix my prayer when the fasting starts.” “I’ll open the Quran seriously once the moon is sighted.” But spiritually, Ramadhan was never meant to be a start button. It is a harvest season. You cannot plant seeds on the day of harvest. The scholars used to say something simple, but deeply unsettling if we really sit with it: Rajab is the month of planting. Sha‘ban is the month of watering. Ramadhan is the month of
harvesting. Which means this question matters more than we realise: If nothing is planted now, what are we actually expecting to harvest later? Hunger? Thirst? Fatigue? That is not worship. That is survival. There is a reason the first week of Ramadhan feels heavy for so many of us. People often
ask, “If Shaytan is chained, why is it still so hard?” The answer is not spiritual weakness. It is momentum. Imagine a ceiling fan spinning at full speed. You
turn the switch off. Does it stop immediately? No. It keeps spinning. Even when the power is cut, the movement continues, because it has been pushed for a long time. This is us. Shaytan has been pushing habits for eleven months. Scrolling without restraint. Delaying prayer. Small sins done quickly and often. When Ramadhan comes, the switch is turned off. But the habits are still spinning. You are not bad for struggling in Ramadhan. You are dealing with unchecked momentum. That is why Rajab is mercy. Rajab is not about stopping everything overnight. It is about slowing the spin before the switch flips. The Prophet ﷺ taught us something deeply practical when he said: “Whoever recites ten verses at night will not be recorded among the heedless.” (Abu Dawud) Why ten? Because Allah builds hearts through consistency, not shock. Ten verses take two minutes. But they introduce friction to the spin. One seed is enough. - Ten ayat after
Fajr or before sleep.
- One sunnah prayer you guard daily.
- Sleeping a little earlier.
- Leaving one small sin you know you keep excusing.
These are not small deeds. These are seeds. Rajab is where the unseen work happens. Nothing looks impressive yet. But roots are forming. And Allah is Al-Karim. He grows what is planted sincerely, even when the effort feels fragile. As we enter Rajab, we make this du‘a for ourselves and our families: Ya Allah, plant light in our hearts before Ramadhan arrives. Make our homes familiar with Your words before the long nights begin. Slow our
habits, soften our souls, and prepare our children to love this month. Allow us to reach Ramadhan not scrambling, but ready. Ameen. Rajab is already here. The soil is open. What you plant now will bear fruit in Ramadan. Wallahu a‘lam. |
Alhamdulillah. 2025 has passed in the blink of an
eye, and here we are — welcoming 2026 with renewed hope and purpose. By the mercy of Allah, this platform has survived yet another year.
It hasn’t always been easy. There were moments of joy and growth, and there were also seasons of difficulty and uncertainty. But we have always believed that tests are not meant to break us — they are meant to awaken us.
It is during these tests that our problem-solving skills, resilience, and faith must shift into a higher gear. When challenges appear, that is our cue to reflect deeper, think sharper, and act with greater wisdom and tawakkul.
Through it all, we remain grateful — for the lessons, the support, and the opportunity to continue serving this community.
Ramadan 1447H / 2026
As we look ahead, Ramadan is now less than two months away.
With it comes a season of reflection, generosity, and impact. There will be many opportunities to give during this blessed period — from local mosque initiatives here at home, to meaningful overseas projects
in need of support. Do expect to see an increase in outreach and campaigns from mosques and local organisers, seeking support through knowledge-based initiatives as well as infaq projects. We will also be releasing a video soon. Last July, we hosted Dr Haifaa Younis in Singapore for the event “Exploring the Essence of Tawheed.” The
session was fully attended, and many were unable to secure a seat. This upcoming release is a chance for more hearts to benefit.
The content is deeply reflective and heart-awakening, especially on the matter of Tawheed — prompting us to ask an essential question: Are we truly putting Allah ﷻ first, or have other matters taken priority?
May Allah allow us to reach Ramadan,
purify our intentions, and make us among those who give sincerely and consistently.

Since 2007, we have listed Islamic activities on our platform
for free, serving as a bridge between organizers and the Muslim community. Over the years, thousands of events — from classes and talks to conferences and community gatherings — have been shared through IslamicEvents.sg, connecting seekers of knowledge with opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute. Our mission has always been simple: to make Islamic knowledge accessible to all. Despite the challenges and changes through the years, we remain committed to supporting organizers, mosques, and educators who strive to uplift our ummah. As we continue this
journey, we thank every partner, volunteer, and supporter who has walked with us. May Allah SWT reward all your efforts and allow us to keep serving the community for many more years to come. |
