1447H Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Every year, many of us intend to have a better Ramadan. And every year, Ramadan arrives faster than
our hearts feel ready. Sha‘ban comes before that moment, with no major rituals, no communal urgency. Yet it may be the month that decides what our Ramadan becomes. A Month the Prophet ﷺ Connected to Ramadan Most people notice Ramadan when it is already close. But the Prophet ﷺ paid attention earlier. Sha‘ban was not a filler month in his life. It was a month of intention, preparation, and quiet seriousness. A month honoured precisely because others neglected it. Ā’ishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) said: “I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fast in any month more than he fasted in Sha‘ban.” (Bukhari and Muslim) In another narration: “He used to join Sha‘ban with Ramadan.” When Deeds Are Raised, and Hearts Are Watched When Usamah ibn Zayd رضي الله عنه noticed this and asked why, the Prophet ﷺ
replied with words that should still make us pause today. He said Sha‘ban is a month people neglect, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is the month when deeds are raised to Allah. “I love for my deeds to be raised while I am fasting.” This tells us something profound. The Prophet ﷺ did not enter Ramadan
suddenly. He arrived already aligned. How the Early Scholars Prepared Their Souls The early scholars understood this well. They used Sha‘ban to soften the soul before Ramadan arrived. They
returned to the Quran before the month required it. They practiced fasting before it became a collective rhythm. They reconciled hearts before forgiveness was widely opened. Some of the righteous predecessors even referred to Sha‘ban as “the month of the reciters,” as they prepared their relationship with the Quran before
Ramadan arrived. This is part of our adab with Allah. We do not arrive at great moments unprepared. We do not wait for sacred days to become sincere. The Night Allah Looks at His Servants The Prophet ﷺ said: “On the night of the middle of Sha‘ban (the Nisfu Sha‘ban), Allah looks at His creation and forgives all of them except the one who associates partners with Him and the one who harbors hatred.” (Ibn Mājah, authenticated by
Al-Albani) Sha‘ban offers something rare: forgiveness before Ramadan begins. It is the month Allah gives mercy ahead of discipline. Amnesty before effort. Sha‘ban
teaches us something gentle but firm. You do not transform overnight. You prepare, you return, you try again. This month, the goal is not to do everything. But to do something consistently. A Du‘a to Begin Sha‘ban اللهم بارك لنا في شعبان وبلغنا رمضان O Allah, bless us in Sha‘ban and allow us to reach Ramadan. May we arrive at Ramadan not startled, but ready. Wallahu a‘lam. |
Assalammualaikum wr wb & Jumaah Mubarak! Since
day one we started this organisation we have been supporting mosque with the publicity of events. Over the years as we build trust, they also engaged us in fundraising, livestreaming and many other services.
Recently we have been developing the Automated Prayer Time for the TVs at the mosque. Here we have one installed at Masjid Mydin @
Kembangan.
We wouldn't say the service is perfected yet. For those who visit the mosque, we would love to get your feedback on how we can improve this service.
How does this work? Besides showing the prayer time, the system will alert the Muazzin to start the Adzan. While thats happening there will be countdown timer from Adzan to the time the Bilal will do the iqamah and the Imam to step out to ready for prayers. At other times,
Masjid can upload their own advertisements of notices, events, courses or words of inspiration through the system. To know more, please contact Bro Fazli @ 9179 8353 Ramadan Fundraising.
This Ramadan, mosques across Singapore will be preparing meals for iftar throughout all 30 days, and sahur for those observing Qiyammulail in the last 10 nights.
It is a beautiful opportunity for us to share in the blessings of feeding those who fast, and to be part of countless acts of worship done quietly in the night.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that whoever
provides food for a fasting person to break their fast will receive the same reward as the one who fasted, without any reduction in their reward. Such is the mercy of Allah — where a simple act of giving becomes a source of immense barakah, and the angels make du‘a for those who feed others.
This week, we invite you to support Masjid Ar-Raudhah @ Bukit Batok, as they raise funds to prepare meals
for the community this Ramadan.

Disclaimer: All funds raise to the mosque are paid directly to them and receipts will be issued via the system.
