In the Shadow of the Sacrifice: The Meaning of Eiduladha
As the sun rises on the Day of Eiduladha, we are reminded of the profound story of Prophet Ibrahim ‘alayhis salam and his son, Prophet Ismail. Their unwavering submission to
Allah’s command, their readiness to sacrifice what was most beloved, and their trust in Allah’s mercy form the very heart of this sacred festival.
How often do we pause to reflect on what sacrifice truly means? In a world that moves swiftly, the act of Qurban is not only about the ritual slaughter but about the willingness to let go—of ego, of attachment, of comfort—for the sake of Allah. This year, as we gather with family and community, let us renew our intentions: to serve,
to give, and to draw closer to our Creator. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” (Bukhari)
The Spirit of Qurban: Giving Beyond Ourselves
Today, we just want to talk about Eiduladha and the spirit of Qurban. This is a time for reflection, for gratitude, and for action. The act of Qurban is a reminder that our faith is not just about words, but about deeds—sacrifices
made for the sake of Allah and for the benefit of others. May this Eiduladha inspire us to give more, serve more, and love more, in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim and his family.
