And suddenly… your child looks up and asks, “Daddy, how do the ustaz know when it’s Raya?” 🌙
A simple question, but not always a simple answer.
In Islamic tradition, the science that studies the movement of the sun, moon, and stars is known as Ilmu Falak. Through this knowledge, scholars and astronomers are able to predict when and where
the hilal (crescent moon) may appear, helping the Muslim community prepare for the beginning of a new Islamic month.
You breathe a sigh of relief… first question answered.
But then another one comes.
“What is the hilal, Daddy?”
“What if the ustaz cannot see the moon?”
“What if clouds block the sun or the moon?”
Suddenly… you pause.
How do you explain all this in a way your child will truly understand? Explaining it purely through theory might feel overwhelming, and you might even worry about giving the wrong answer.
Parents, we understand. And we’re here to help.
In this programme, your child will discover how the Sun, Earth, and Moon move and interact, how shadows change throughout the day, the practical fundamentals of Ilmu Falak (Islamic Astronomy), methods of direction finding using the Sun and celestial references, sky observation, hands-on science activities, and develop critical scientific thinking through questions and exploration. 🌌✨
Instead of just hearing about it, they will experience it, explore it, and understand it for themselves.
