What is CPF Nomination?
CPF Nomination is an option to specify the people who should receive your CPF monies and in what amount upon your demise, including your beneficiary.
Is it permissible in Islam?
Yes, CPF Nomination is permissible according to Fatwa issued by Fatwa, Committee, Islamic
Religious Singapore. "The nomination system is a contemporary form of property distribution not found in the writings and scholarly works of the scholars of the past. However it is permitted as it is considered as a new form of hibah. It is also able to preserve the spirit of faraidh – in ensuring the welfare of one’s dependants." (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura, 2025, Part II, para. 10)
What is Faraidh?
Faraidh is an Islamic inheritance law governs the distribution of a deceased Muslim’s assets (estate), by determining their heirs and the shares, based on guidance from the Quran and Hadith.
What happens when no CPF Nomination is made?
The passing of a loved one is already one of life's greatest tests. Imagine having to endure months or even years of uncertainty while trying to settle their wealth and assets.
When there is no proper planning, what was meant to be a blessing can become the source of misunderstandings, disputes, and strained family
relationships. Don't let inheritance become the reason hearts are divided after a loved one has returned to Allah.
