Qurban 1439H / 2018. Rohingyas and where are they now?
Published: Thu, 07/19/18
Assalammualaikum wr wb,
Alhamdulillah. All praises to Allah swt, the magnificent and merciful. We hope you and your family are in the best of health and iman and always being protected by Allah swt. May Allah ease the burdens of our brothers and sisters around the world. Rohingyas and where are they now? Picture from Aljazeera.com The conflicts happening in the Rakhine State, Myanmar dated decades ago. Despite living there for centuries, the Rohingyas were not accepted as citizens of Myanmar, what we know today as ethnic cleansing happening there.
Many of the Rohingyas has since fled their country since decades ago as the place was not deemed safe and Muslims are not free to practise their religion there. According to Al Jazera News as shown above, some of them have fled as far as Saudi Arabia. Our neighbours, Malaysia themselves have accepted 150,000 of these refugees. In Johor Bahru alone, we found out that there are around 2,000 refugees. Some of them have been living there for more 10 years. Where ever they have fled to we hope that the Rohingyas are able to have the basic necessities required and may Allah swt protect them and provide them. Insyallah. For us in Singapore, there is a lot to be thankful for. We tend to complain about the rising cost of living but despite that, we live in harmony. Our society and leaders are more tolerant to the various religions being practised here and we hope it will stay this way. For this years Qurban, we will be working with various partners and 4 of them happen to have Rohingyas among their beneficiaries.
Latest update: Qurban for Cows & Cow Parts is available at Hyderabad, India. Partnering organisation is AWWA( Affus Woman Welfare Association)
