Unity in Diversity
It is a normal for human when we do good deeds we hoping for something back in return. Poverty and wealth are a test from Allah SWT, to His servants. He gives in abundance to some in order to see whether they will praise and thank Him or will behave arrogantly and transgress all boundaries. He also straitened the provision for others and withholds from them some of the delights of
this world to see whether they will show patience and contentment or show annoyance and dissatisfaction.
Allah SWT says:
وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
".... and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good. And to Us you will be returned."
How wonderful the case of believer is! If adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is good for him, and if prosperity attends him, he thanks Allah, feeling content and gratitude towards Him. Whether he is experiencing an affliction or receiving a favor, a believer attains good by showing patience; and it is not easy to restrain self from doing bad deeds or do
something out of anger; to get rid of that unpleasant feeling. But hey! if you manage to withstand and be patient about it then you are the best servant of Allah as that is the greatest act of worship!
Just because another human being has a different status or level of wealth as you, that does not mean you can treat them any less different. Do not look down or belittle as they might be the source of your endless rizq from Allah SWT. Allah created mankind for one another; to cater for one another's needs; which is bound to create harmony and solidarity among us, same goes
for the poor and the rich. Either you're rich or poor, it calls to train yourselves to be content with what they have and to exercise self-restraint by curbing their desires and refining your inner drives in order to reach a state of contentment and satisfaction with what Allah has allotted to you, however small that may be.
"Be satisfied with what Allah has allotted to you and you will be the richest of all people."
How often do you take time to count the numerous blessings bestowed upon you? When was the last time you truly felt grateful and appreciated the fact that we are still given the opportunity to wake up another day; to be able to go to work; to be able to eat delicious food every single day.
A deep sense of gratitude will not only inspire and motivate a person to do good deeds and spread kindness, but it will also bring about a sense of peace and tranquility in you. To link it with all of the above, volunteering your time, energy and make contributions towards humanitarian and welfare efforts will reap extraordinary rewards.
The Prophet SAW mentioned in a Hadith:
"Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection."
[Reported by Imam Muslim]
There are many parts of the world today that enjoy peace and stability. However, there are also areas which suffer the calamities of war and conflicts. It is important for us to understand that this represents a complex phenomenon. These conflicts are not resolved instantaneously with the blink of an eye. Hence what can we as human beings can do to support? Seek out opportunities to
help and contribute positively. Positive contributions that can lead to solutions.
May Allah SWT pleased with our efforts, and may He enrich us with the spirit of contributing so that it will benefit those who are in need.
