InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.
Almost every day we spend thousands of money on food, dresses, ornamentation and on other “essentials” of life, but when it comes to giving sadaqah, we can have a lot of excuses like short of money, under debt, not capable, or delayed salary, and
so on.
Perhaps many people feel that if they give charity it will decrease their wealth. Yet some people carry the notion that giving charity is only for the rich people.
Sadaqa is about giving something to someone with the sole purpose to please Allah. It is voluntary that may be given at any time of the year and in any amount.
In fact, sadaqah has been mentioned upon Muslims as a way to thank Allah and guard themselves from any kind of difficulties. In addition it helps the society by providing support to the needy and the
poor.
We know that sadaqah (charity) intercedes for the person and stops the fire from eating the person in the grave, and the sadaqah extinguishes the anger of Allah swt :
إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَتُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ وَتَدْفَعُ مِيتَةَ السُّوءِ
Indeed charity extinguishes the Lord's anger and it protects against the evil death.
and that is why prophet Muhammad saw encourage people to give sadaqah and we all know, when the time of deaths comes to the person, he will say “ya Allah give me a chance… To What? To and Pray? To go and Do Hajj? No! I would give in charity. I want to give charity”.
And that’s why the sadaqah has its role in stopping the punishment. And that’s why the person should not stop himself from giving the sadaqah. Don’t stop yourself from giving sadaqah no matter how big or small your contribution is. Like how Uqbah ibn Aamir narrated: the prophet SAW said
that:
“The person will be under the shade of his sadaqah on the day of the resurrection.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
Furthermore, the sadaqah of the children, it will definitely reach the parents in their graves, and that’s why brothers and sisters remember this; when you give sadaqah, imagine quickly, your parents whether they are alive or passed away, include them in your intention and give
sadaqah on their behalf.
Allah swt is rich and generous to His creations. He will give them the ajr (reward) for the sadaqah 700 times, and he might increase more than that. We constantly have that fear engulfing us, eating us alive bit by bit; the fear uncertainties; the fear of losing. But that is where we
need to put full trust and faith in Allah swt. The more we give sadaqah, the more our belief increases, and the trust in the Creator is strengthened.
مَن كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ
مَخْرَجًا
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out.
