وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
"Spend out what We have provided for them"
You can only spend for the sake of Allah and spend, give, sadaqah and help somebody out and not think about how much you have left in the bank if 2 things are clear to you;
ما نقص مال من صدقة
"When you give, money doesn't decrease."
That's the promise of Prophet Muhammad SAW (pbuh). Money doesn't go down when you give sadaqah and do charity. When you give, Allah will replace with something better and more valuable. When
you want promotion, give sadaqah. You're not getting enough savings, give sadaqah, because if we put trust and faith in His path, Allah will open more doors for you.
The second point is that when we are giving, we are not giving to an orphan. We're not giving to flood or earthquake victims but we are actually giving to
Allah; يُنفِقُونَ means to spend out and Allah does not specifically said spend on the poor, on the orphans etc. Allah does not say
spend on what, He just say spend but actually realize the spending that we do. This is why when Sayyidatina Aishah Radiyallhuanha every time she used to give sadaqah, she sprayed perfume on it because she knows she is sending it to Allah SWT.
Actually every single time you are giving charity, it is an act of giving to Allah SWT himself.
Human nature from childhood onwards, it is when we are given things that are not ours, very quickly we forget that they are not ours to own forever. We start assuming, imagining, we forgot the parts that was given to us and start to imagine that all of it belongs to ourselves, that it does not belong to someone else; and we want to hold on to it,
when somebody want to take it from us, we are possessive and like: "No, no this is mine. All mine."
Allah says: "Spend out from what we provided them." Allah is the one that gives you that gives to us. We forgot that it is not ours to own eternity. The clothes we're are wearing is not ours; the money in the bank is not ours; the cars we are driving is not ours. We said it all the time; my shirt,
my car, my wallet, my account. We use the word "my" so many times that we forget that is the belonging of Allah SWT, so much that our bodies, our eyes, our souls will be returned to Him.
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
"Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
We are going to be returned to Allah; our property is only an extension of the very property of Allah ourselves. Same goes with our money our wealth. We do not have to wait for Allah to provide and then we will spend. Some people said:
"I will give sadaqah when Allah gives me. Now right now Allah has not given me this yet."
But Allah has said to every single human being, "I have already given you, you already have something." If you have 2 dates, give me one of them. If you just have an apple, give a slice. If you have youth, give me some of it. If you have energy, give me some of it. If you have talent, give me some if it. You would not be breathing on this earth if you were
not given rizq.
Allah does not descend this ayat down only to millionaires; and he does not care how much you give. He cares about the quality of what you give not the quantity. Because of the intention that came behind it, the sacrifice that came behind it. When someone internalize from whatever little Allah has given to them, they will come forward. This is why Allah
says later on:
انفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا
"Go forth. Whether light or heavy"
Do not ever underestimate what you have to give. A child who donate all of her pennies/coins to the donation box is an act of her giving something that makes her happy. If may
not seems that valuable to you but to her it may cost her life savings that she wants to give to Allah.
Do not underestimate the value of your giving whether it is big or small.
