[Newsletter] 7 May 2019

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, we ask for your peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad SAW. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. In shaa Allah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, in shaa Allah.

Many of us felt inadequate this Ramadan. Long hours of fasting with short nights have made it hard sometimes especially when we had to juggle with work, exams, other responsibilities. We have not been able to do extra worship we used to and even when we get in our extra Qur'an or pray in the mosque we have trouble concentrating and we end up just feeling distressed and anguished. Do you ever felt that way?

Your life circumstances simply do not allow even the small amount of worship you so desperately wish you could partake in. Even if you do have the time, you do not have the energy to focus internally and feel the drive. You are exhausted. You feel depleted.

And that is where your intention comes in. You would be doing all you could to rake up the spiritual vibes if it were possible. So, instead of lamenting your lameness, think of Allah SWT greatness. In His mercy, He will reward you anyway for all of what you planned to do, but could not. Think of the powerful words of Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH), comforting all of us in this exact situation:

“God ordered (the appointed angels over you) that the good and the bad deeds be written, and He then showed (the way) how (to write):

If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then God will write for him a full good deed (in his account with Him); and if he intends to do a good deed and actually did it, then God will write for him (in his account) with Him (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times to many more times: and if somebody intended to do a bad deed and he does not do it, then God will write a full good deed (in his account) with Him, and if he intended to do it (a bad deed) and actually did it, then God will write one bad deed (in his account).”

Whenever you feel down for whatever reason, your heart feel restless, just take a moment and speak to Him. Give yourself five minutes, just you and Allah. If you can spend hours and hours with your phone what does 5 minutes even have on you. Sit and raise your hands and share what is in your heart with Him with your own words, even though He is well aware of it. Allow the burden of your frustration with yourself to be lifted off your shoulders and into His hands.

“Dear Allah, I feel distant from you and it hurts especially because it’s Ramadan and I want to feel close to You in this month. Please, accept all my sacrifices for Your Sake and let me taste the sweetness of our relationship together through what I’m doing.

As much as I wish I could be in the mosque and concentrate when reading Qur’an like I used to do to get that iman high, I can’t. But I’m doing whatever I can to fulfill the responsibilities You’ve given me in this phase of my life. So please, write me amongst the highest in Paradise, pour blessings into my life and let me taste the sweetness of my relationship with You through what I’m doing.”

It's okay if you don't see yourself at the mosque everyday. It's okay if you can't finish reading 1 juzu' of the Qur'an in a day. It's okay if you can't do 20 rakaats of terawih. It's okay. What matters is that you be consistent in whatever you CAN do and that is enough. Allah looks at your efforts and if He knows that it took alot in you, you will be rewarded accordingly.

Know that you're not in competition against anyone else. Others may read the Qur'an better, frequent in the mosque more often, have more to give in to charity, or appear more pious than you are.

Know that the only competition you have is who you were- yesterday.

There is still time. Renew your intention. Reframe your perspectives. In these blessed nights, make your Ramadan worship something transformational. Choose to understand your relationship with Allah as one that will continue even when your life changes. Choose to magnify your intentions.

So how was your first Ramadan?

Clearing The Dust
22 June 2019 | Saturday
2.30 pm - 5.30 pm

A seminar on understanding Riba (Interest %) & learn how to deal with it in Singapore.

You have noted that your income is not insufficient or little in terms of its amount and how much one would expect would cover their expenses, but for some unexplainable reason, it never seems to be enough for the needs of the home. This is a sign- not lack of wealth, but rather of a lack of divine blessings (barakah) in that wealth.

Having more barakah in one's wealth does not mean the dollar amount increases- rather, that the benefits seen from that limited amount increase, reach further and last longer.

When examining the issues of riba, we should remember that true success lies with the help of Allah alone. If we abide by what which is lawful, and avoid that which is haram, our wealth will be blessed and beneficial in this world and the hereafter. What good extra money earned through Riba if there is no blessing in it, and it is cursed- a source of misery?

Now is there a way to get out of this?

To find out the ways how to overcome and solve the issue, be sure to register yourself and join this workshop!
