Making Giving Possible For All

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, we ask for your peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad SAW. Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshaAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. May the peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you and your family, inshaAllah.

In our previous post, we have touched on the importance of giving charity and its benefits. We saw how through giving charity it could impact not only other people's life but also our's in this world and the hereafter. SubhanAllah. Amazing right.

Unfortunately, this meritorious act has turned burdensome when people start associating money to giving charity. Honestly, money is a sensitive subject. This is because money reveals uncomfortable biases, perceptions, or personality traits about the person. Nevertheless, will Allah s.w.t command something that is neither impossible for its servants nor possible for only certain group of people? Indeed Allah s.w.t is the Most Compassionate and Merciful.

Giving charity for the sake of Allah s.w.t. can come in many form and not just giving money. What is more important, is to do it with honesty, sincerity and for the sake of Allah s.w.t. Did not the Prophet (pbuh) said "Allah accepts all charity from that earned earnestly, the Lord would accept and receive it with His Right Hand". The phrase "all charity from that earned earnestly" by itself explained that giving charity could be in any form as long as it is obtained sincerely.

Thus, so long as what you are giving is Halal and permissible according to Islam, it is already considered charity. These could be in the form of daily prayer you make for our Muslim brothers and sisters, knowledge you shared, your smile that made someone's day better, your advices that made someone reassured, help to solve one's problem wisely, spending time with your family members, nurturing your kids, patience over difficult time, to advise for good, to stop from evil, to forgive, to give respect, to be part of someone's happiness and the list goes on. Now you see how giving is possible for all to be done?

In this Wakf project, we are collaborating with an NGO in Cambodia, Organization for Community Development Cambodida (OCDC) to provide this muqaddam to the children, orphans, women and also to adults in Cambodia who wishes to learn to read the Al-Qur'an, beginning with the basic using Muqaddam that you have donated.

Wakaf Housing Project in Cambodia

As of now alhamdulillah we have succeed in building 7 houses.

And now we are in the process of building another 7 more houses.

Latest update:

5 houses are 90% completed.

2 houses are in queue.

Insyallah we are able to take in 3-5 more houses.

Please note that each housing project may take about 3 months to a year to complete.
Depending on weather conditions and queue.

Shelter is one of our most basic needs: Without it, it is almost impossible to carry on any other kind of activity or live a comfortable life. Yet at least one in every four people worldwide live without decent housing and over 100 million people live in absolute homelessness. A place that keep us safe; A place we seek sanctuary from; A place to rest and sleep in, that we can call home to most of us but not everyone has the opportunity to own it.

While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to build a house of their own.

Cambodia are home to nearly 2,700 homeless (as of 2017) who are living in poverty. How lucky are we to live in a HDB flat with clean tiles, proper room to sleep in and only our family members reside in it but as for them it is good enough to have a place to stay even if they have to share it with other families.

In this Wakaf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing. To give them a shelter that they need.
