As promised, we will be touching on the 2nd Pillar of Islam in this issue of INFAQ and that is Solat. Solat literally means prayer. According to Syariah, Solat is an act of worship with certain movements and recitals that begin with Takbeeratul Ihram and end with Salam.
As one of the Pillars of Islam, Solat is mandatory. However, the decision to perform Solat is made by each individual, themselves. Frankly speaking, talking about Solat is easy. Carrying it out is another issue. In reality, Solat is the most difficult thing to be carried out. Agreed?
Reasons:
- Busy schedules
- The inconvenience of taking wudhu' in public toilets
- Limited access to Musollahs
- The laziness that always struck during prayer time
- The whispering of Syaitans, which always become the excuse
- And many more.
Thus, what is the connection between Solat and Giving?
The connection between Solat and Giving is when you are able to GIVE the above excuses solution and making sure that your Solat is carried out. And the solution is actually, the ability to GIVE YOURSELF SINCERELY TO ALLAH S.W.T. after you have declared the Syahadah.
Through Solat, you engages yourself with Allah s.w.t. and HE in return listens to you. If during your engagement with Allah s.w.t you are NOT GIVING your full conscious sincere participation, how will Allah s.w.t confirms your servanthood to HIM? Or how will HE gives what you are requesting from HIM?? This is equivalent to the saying "what you give is what
you get".
Remember! While Syahadah represents the WORD of submission to Allah s.w.t, Solat represents the ACT.
Stay tune to our next INFAQ newsletter where we will reveal to you the relationship between Puasa and Giving.
Meanwhile, have you taken some ACTion to do some giving today? If you have not, here we provide you with a list of opportunities to do so.
