Alhamdulillah, we have finally come to the last series of the important events during Zul Qaedah. For the final episode, we will be touching on Prophet Muhammad's s.a.w. and his companions visit to Mecca for Umrah following the Truce of Hudaibiyah.
With the treaty, Prophet s.a.w and the companions were now able to enter and exit Mecca and also visit the Ka’bah without obstacles. It was because of this too that Prophet s.a.w called the companions to prepare for Umrah, which was previously being obstructed by the Quraish.
The companions were really excited with the call. For some of them, it has been seven years since they last been into Mecca. That was why the number of pilgrims increased from 1400 to 2000 pilgrims.
The companions departed from Medina with a heart full of desire. Some were eager to perform Tawaf in the Baitullah. Some were longing their place of birth. Some were eager to breathe the fragrant air of Allah’s holy home and the blessed land of Mecca. And some were eager to experience the land that has borne the last Prophet of Allah and where the first
revelation was revealed.
When the Quraish learned the arrival of the Prophet s.a.w and his companions, they immediately leave Mecca to make way for them. This was also in accordance to the treaty of Hudaibiyah. The Quraish camped at the near by hills so that Mecca is still visible to them.
The Prophet s.a.w and the companions entered Mecca with ease and peace. Once they saw the Ka'bah they echoed the talbiyah "Labbaika, Allahumma labbaik!". The Prophet s.a.w touched the corner of Hajar Aswad (black stone) and Tawaf around the Ka'bah together with the others. Having completed the Tawaf, the Prophet s.a.w led them to move to the hills of
Safa and Marwa seven times, just as the Arabs used to do. They then slaughtered sacrifices and shaves their hair.
The next day the Prophet s.a.w entered the Ka'bah again and stayed until Zuhur. At that time, the idols still filled the place. Nevertheless, Bilal climbed up to the roof of the Ka'bah and called the azan of Zuhur. The Prophet s.a.w became the Imam and led the prayer of 2,000 Muslims in the Holy House which for the past seven years, they have been barred from
doing so.
All of them stayed in Mecca for three days as signed in the treaty. During their stay, they were not disturbed. The Muhajirin used the opportunity to visit their homes and invite the friends of the Ansar over.
Meanwhile, the Quraish and other Meccans watched for themselves the extraordinary view of the history. They witnessed people with such a character - not drinking, not doing bad deeds. They do not violate what is prohibited and devotedly carrying out Allah's commands. What they are witnessing has slowly erased all their bad speculations about the Prophet s.a.w
and the Muslims.
