Uthman Al-Affan r.a. (part 2)

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I turn my face to Him who created the heavens and earth, a pure monotheist in submission and am not of those who associate others with Him. My prayer, worship, life and death are for Allah, Lord of the World. He has no partner and thus I have been commanded and I am of those who submit. Ameen.

Still remember Uthman Ibn Affan r.a. the man who was always ready to sacrifice his wealth for the sake of Allah s.w.t.? Here we provide you a little bit more of his philanthropic act.

In Madinah, water was scarce. Control of wells was tightly held by several men. They charged the people excessively for the water. Thus, the Muslims were really having difficulty in obtaining water. Uthman r.a. being a skillful trader and negotiator, set about trying to procure a well for the use of the Muslims. Thus, he negotiated a price for half a well; he would have control one day and the other owner the next day. However, Uthman r.a. gave his water to the Muslims freely, so nobody wanted to pay for the water on the alternate days. The original owner of the well had no choice but to sell his half of the well to Uthman r.a. who nevertheless paid a fair price for it. Uthman r.a. continued to allow the water to be used freely by all.

Uthman r.a. never reminded the people of his charity. He was humble and modest. What inspired Uthman r.a. was the words of the Prophet s.a.w. When the issue of the well happened, Prophet s.a.w. assured great reward for those who will buy the well and endow it free to the people of Madinah. In fact, Uthman r.a. did not make the wrong move. This great reward upon him was really proven up till today. YES TODAY!

Numerous date palms started to grow on the grounds overt time. These dates were harvested and given to charity in the name of Uthman r.a. TILL TODAY! Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made the decision to organize and turn the ground into a modern plantation. The profit earned from the plantation will be divided into two. Half will be given in the name of charity, mainly to widows and orphans. And the other half to be reinvested.

Subhanallah! One charitable deed that has earned Uthman r.a. rewards for over centuries. So now you know where our Project Clean Water in Cambodia was inspired from??

ALHAMDULILLAH. We have received more than enough contributions for now.

There was a miscommunication between masjid officers and us. The event on 25th August 2019 was postponed to the following month on 22nd Sep 2019. This message was confirmed after last week's newsletter was sent out.

Hence we have enough mutton to supply Masjid Darul Makmur. Our suppliers have also updated us because of the Qurban meat received from the last Qurban, we have sufficient meat to supply Masjid Darul Makmur for the next 4 months.
In hand we have more than 400kg of mutton.

Thank you for the generous contributions over the past weeks.

We have also instructed our officers to find out if there are other organisations who require any mutton for their events. More updates soon.

Infaq Telekung 2019 ( Updates )

2417 Telekungs collected.

1626 Telekungs distributed.

including 30 Telekungs

were distributed to 1 village in Pursat province which is 222 kms from Phnom Penh

on 29 Aug 2019. At this same location 100 Muqaddams have been distributed also.

For the next distribution, the Wakf Muqaddam will also be together with it. The partnering NGO in Cambodia have informed us that the next distribution will be end of this month. We await more updates from their end.

Why does the distribution takes very long?

One of the reasons is that the villages are very far apart from each other.
To get to one village may take 2-4 hours of travelling not on tar roads but on muddy and pothole roads.

In this Wakf project, we are collaborating with an NGO in Cambodia, Organization for Community Development Cambodida (OCDC) to provide this muqaddam to the children, orphans, women and also to adults in Cambodia who wishes to learn to read the Al-Qur'an, beginning with the basic using Muqaddam that you have donated.

Wakaf Housing Project in Cambodia

The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said: “Part of a man’s happiness includes a good neighbor, a comfortable mount, and a spacious abode.”

As of now Alhamdulillah we have succeed in building 11 houses.

And now we are in the process of building another 1 more house.

Latest update:

2 house is in queue.

Insyallah we are able to take in 3-5 more houses.

Please note that each housing project may take about 3 months to a year to complete.
Depending on weather conditions and queue.

Shelter is one of our most basic needs: Without it, it is almost impossible to carry on any other kind of activity or live a comfortable life. Yet at least one in every four people worldwide live without decent housing and over 100 million people live in absolute homelessness. A place that keep us safe; A place we seek sanctuary from; A place to rest and sleep in, that we can call home to most of us but not everyone has the opportunity to own it.

While we are living in the comfort of our homes protected, others in different parts of the world may not share the same fate. Despite working day and night to support their families, they are still too poor to build a house of their own.

Cambodia are home to nearly 2,700 homeless (as of 2017) who are living in poverty. How lucky are we to live in a HDB flat with clean tiles, proper room to sleep in and only our family members reside in it but as for them it is good enough to have a place to stay even if they have to share it with other families.

In this Wakaf project, we aim to aid and provide these families with proper housing. To give them a shelter that they need.

Gaza Food Aid Hampers!

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive [Quran 76:8]

Ibn ‘Abbas and Mujahid said, "This verse denotes that they feed the needy, the orphan and the captive despite the scarcity of food and their need and love for it."
